Ryan Seacrest stepped into Sajak’s shoes after his 41-year tenure as host of the famed game show, joining co-host and letter turner Vanna White. Seacrest, a familiar television and radio presence known for hosting “American Idol,” New Year’s Eve programming and a long-running radio show, debuted as the series’ new host Monday night.

“I still can’t believe my luck being here with you tonight to continue this legacy of this incredible show with all of you, and, of course, my good friend Vanna White,” Seacrest said as he opened the show. “Thank you for the very warm welcome.”

In a brief opening monologue before the gameplay began, Seacrest acknowledged Sajak’s impact as host and his retirement at the end of the 41st season. Sajak won his fourth Emmy Award for best game show host for his final season Saturday at the Creative Arts Emmys.

“Hosting ‘Wheel of Fortune’ is a dream job. I’ve been a fan of this show since I was a kid watching it in Atlanta with my family, and I know how special it is that ‘Wheel’ has been in your living rooms for the past 40 years,” he said. “I’m just so grateful to be invited in. I also know I’ve got some very big shoes to fill, so let’s play ‘Wheel of Fortune.’”

In his first episode, Seacrest brought an energetic spirit and his classic good-humored nature. In a departure from his predecessor, he did not use cue cards to speak with contestants Corina, Terry and Cindy about their backgrounds.

Beyond the obvious change of Seacrest taking over for Sajak, the premiere of the 42nd season also showcased some aesthetic adjustments.

The colorful wheel and the iconic puzzle board remain largely the same, although White did get upgraded to a motion sensor board in 2022 to celebrate the 40th season. The stage has been updated and now features golden wheels and spokes in a more modern, sleek design.

Seacrest asked White how she liked the new stage during the hallmark banter the host and letter turner share to close the show. White said there were “a lot of lights, a lot of action,” and Seacrest quipped that he hoped it would continue working through his first week.

Seacrest told The Associated Press in a recent interview “the scale of the set was pretty impressive” to him when he first stepped on set.

The shooting schedule is still as fast-paced as ever, with Seacrest saying that while it may be busy to shoot multiple episodes per day, it makes it convenient for his packed schedule of other hosting duties.

Many of the familiar elements of the show are just as they were when Sajak left the series. White still wears a formal gown, Seacrest sported a suit and tie like Sajak did, the recognizable sound effects and “devices” contestants use to play are the same. The culture behind the scenes also seems to have remained as genial as the 30-minute episodes.

“I’ve also have been impressed with how close the family is that works on ’Wheel of Fortune,’ the production team that puts it together. It’s a lot of people,” Seacrest said in an interview at an event with White promoting the new season. “They’re really a family and they have a lot of respect for every single person, what they do on the show, and that’s special.”

White added that one staff member who started on the show when she was 18 now has kids who are graduating from college. “We’ve been together a long time,” she said.

A look at the decorated Broadway career of James Earl Jones https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/broadway-james-earl-jones-theatre-tony-winner/3713363/ 3713363 post 9869095 Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-492713228.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 The Broadway theater community is remembering legendary actor James Earl Jones, who died Monday at the age of 93.

His agent, Barry McPherson, confirmed Jones died Monday morning at home in New York’s Hudson Valley region. The cause was not immediately clear.

In addition to his famed movie and film credits, Jones had nearly 20 acting roles on Broadway, according to Playbill.

During his career, he was honored with two Tony Awards and a special Tony for lifetime achievement. Jones won in 169 for his acting work in “The Great White Hope” and in 1987 for his role in the play “Fences.” His lifetime achievement award came in 2017.

He made his Broadway debut in 1958’s “Sunrise At Campobello” and would win his two Tony Awards for “The Great White Hope” (1969) and “Fences” (1987). He also was nominated for “On Golden Pond” (2005) and “Gore Vidal’s The Best Man” (2012). He was celebrated for his command of Shakespeare and Athol Fugard alike. More recent Broadway appearances include “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” “Driving Miss Daisy,” “The Iceman Cometh,” and “You Can’t Take It With You.”

Broadway helped usher in true stardom for Jones in 1970 with “The Great White Hope.” Howard Sackler’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway play depicted the struggles of Jack Johnson, the first Black heavyweight boxing champion, amid the racism of early 20th-century America. In 1972, Jones repeated his role in the movie version and was nominated for an Academy Award as best actor.

Jones last starred on Broadway in 2015 in “The Gin Game” alongside Cicely Tyson at the John Golden Theatre.

He arrived at rehearsals for having already memorized the play and with notebooks filled with comments from the creative team. He said he was always in service of the work.

Actor Colman Domingo posted on X: “Thank you dear James Earl Jones for everything. A master of our craft. We stand on your shoulders. Rest now. You gave us your best.”

LeVar Burton, who starred alongside Jones in the TV movie “Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones,” paid tribute on X, writing, “There will never be another of his particular combination of graces.”

The James Earl Jones Theatre

In 2022, The Shubert Organization renamed the Cort Theatre the James Earl Jones Theatre in honor of the actor. Jones made his Broadway debut at the playhouse in 1958 in “Sunrise at Campobello,” according to the theatre’s website.

The ceremony included Norm Lewis singing “Go the Distance,” Brian Stokes Mitchell singing “Make Them Hear You” and words from Mayor Eric Adams, Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson.

The theatre, located at 138 W 48th St, most recently hosted “Gutenberg! The Musical!” and “The Heart of Rock and Roll,” according to the Internet Broadway Database.

The theatre set to soon host “Left on Tenth” starring Julianna Margulies and Peter Gallagher.

Demi Moore, 61, opens up about aging, body image and why now is the ‘most exciting time' in her life https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/demi-moore-61-opens-up-about-aging-body-image-and-why-now-is-the-most-exciting-time-in-her-life/3713244/ 3713244 post 9868919 Photo by Earl Gibson III/Penske Media via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-2170115922.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Demi Moore shared her secret to living her best life at 61.

“First of all, I really try to be as present in the moment as possible,” Moore said on TODAY on Sept. 9. “And what I feel from that is an excitement of possibilities. That we’re defining a new, I don’t want to say a generation, but we are what the future is for women.”

“I look at having my daughters, and I don’t want there to ever be in their minds that there is an end,” she added. “To me, this is the most exciting time of my life.”

Moore stars in a new horror film “The Substance,” which follows a former A-list celebrity as she tries a black market drug that temporarily gives a more youthful version of herself — though she later learns of its horrifying side effects.

“It was definitely something that I knew was going to really push me out of my comfort zone, that it had a lot of challenges, not just physically — which there is a lot of that — but emotionally, the level of kind of raw vulnerability that it was going to require,” she explained.

“But the message, for me, that was so powerful in this, is not what’s happening in the circumstances around, but it’s the violence that we have against ourselves,” she continues.

The film helped her reflect on a time in her life when she placed “a lot of value” on what her body looked like, Moore said.

“I placed a lot of value on what my body looked like, as being a defining marker of whether I belonged or not, whether I could succeed or not, all of those things, which, again, is a big part of the theme in the film,” she said.

“I think sometimes people have looked at this as really exploring the idea of what the pressures of the externals like … at the end of the day, it’s the violence of how we look in the mirror, the compare and despair that leaves us feeling so bankrupt,” she added.

“The Substance” recieved a 13-minute standing ovation at its premiere at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and Moore’s performance is generating Oscar buzz. But it’s not just Moore’s career that is giving her joy, she said.

“My children are grown. I have the most independence and autonomy to really redefine where I want to go. I don’t know what that looks like or where it is, but I’m just excited to be living in it,” Moore said.

Moore shares three daughters with her ex-husband Bruce Willis: Rumer, 36, Scout, 32, and Tallulah, 30. Moore became a grandmother last year when Rumer Willis gave birth to her daughter, Louetta.

“I love it. I am Ya Ya,” Moore said, referring to the name her grandchildren call her. “And she is the cutest.

Moore added with a laugh: “Rumer just sent me a photo of (Louetta) with spaghetti on her head.”

“The Substance” premieres in theaters on Sept. 20.

James Earl Jones, beloved actor and voice of Darth Vader, dies https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/james-earl-jones-beloved-actor-and-voice-of-darth-vader-dies/3713266/ 3713266 post 9868970 AP Photo/Chris Pizzello https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/AP090125026451_72ae54.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 James Earl Jones, who overcame racial prejudice and a severe stutter to become a celebrated icon of stage and screen — eventually lending his deep, commanding voice to CNN, “The Lion King” and Darth Vader — has died. He was 93.

His agent, Barry McPherson, confirmed Jones died Monday morning at home in New York’s Hudson Valley region. The cause was not immediately clear.

The pioneering Jones, who in 1965 became one of the first African American actors in a continuing role on a daytime drama (“As the World Turns”) and worked deep into his 80s, won two Emmys, a Golden Globe, two Tony Awards, a Grammy, the National Medal of Arts and the Kennedy Center Honors. He was also given an honorary Oscar and a special Tony for lifetime achievement. In 2022, a Broadway theater was renamed in his honor.

He cut an elegant figure late in life, with a wry sense of humor and a ferocious work habit. In 2015, he arrived at rehearsals for a Broadway run of “The Gin Game” having already memorized the play and with notebooks filled with comments from the creative team. He said he was always in service of the work.

“The need to storytell has always been with us,” he told The Associated Press then. “I think it first happened around campfires when the man came home and told his family he got the bear, the bear didn’t get him.”

Jones created such memorable film roles as the reclusive writer coaxed back into the spotlight in “Field of Dreams,” the boxer Jack Johnson in the stage and screen hit “The Great White Hope,” the writer Alex Haley in “Roots: The Next Generation” and a South African minister in “Cry, the Beloved Country.”

He was also a sought-after voice actor, expressing the villainy of Darth Vader (“No, I am your father,” commonly misremembered as “Luke, I am your father”), as well as the benign dignity of King Mufasa in both the 1994 and 2019 versions of Disney’s “The Lion King” and announcing “This is CNN” during station breaks. He won a 1977 Grammy for his performance on the “Great American Documents” audiobook.

“If you were an actor or aspired to be an actor, if you pounded the pavement in these streets looking for jobs, one of the standards we always had was to be a James Earl Jones,” Samuel L. Jackson once said.

Some of his other films include “Dr. Strangelove,” “The Greatest” (with Muhammad Ali), “Conan the Barbarian,” “Three Fugitives” and playing an admiral in three blockbuster Tom Clancy adaptations — “The Hunt for Red October,” “Patriot Games” and “Clear and Present Danger.” In a rare romantic comedy, “Claudine,” Jones had an onscreen love affair with Diahann Carroll.

LeVar Burton, who starred alongside Jones in the TV movie “Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones,” paid tribute on X, writing, “There will never be another of his particular combination of graces.”

Jones made his Broadway debut in 1958’s “Sunrise At Campobello” and would win his two Tony Awards for “The Great White Hope” (1969) and “Fences” (1987).

As a rising stage and television actor, he performed with the New York Shakespeare Festival Theater in “Othello,” “Macbeth” and “King Lear” and in off-Broadway plays.

Jones was born by the light of an oil lamp in a shack in Arkabutla, Mississippi, on Jan. 17, 1931. His father, Robert Earl Jones, had deserted his wife before the baby’s arrival to pursue life as a boxer and, later, an actor.

When Jones was 6, his mother took him to her parents’ farm near Manistee, Michigan. His grandparents adopted the boy and raised him.

“A world ended for me, the safe world of childhood,” Jones wrote in his autobiography, “Voices and Silences.” “The move from Mississippi to Michigan was supposed to be a glorious event. For me it was a heartbreak, and not long after, I began to stutter.”

Too embarrassed to speak, he remained virtually mute for years, communicating with teachers and fellow students with handwritten notes. A sympathetic high school teacher, Donald Crouch, learned that the boy wrote poetry, and demanded that Jones read one of his poems aloud in class. He did so faultlessly.

Teacher and student worked together to restore the boy’s normal speech. “I could not get enough of speaking, debating, orating — acting,” he recalled in his book.

At the University of Michigan, he failed a pre-med exam and switched to drama, also playing four seasons of basketball. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955.

In New York, he moved in with his father and enrolled with the American Theater Wing program for young actors. Father and son waxed floors to support themselves while looking for acting jobs.

True stardom came suddenly in 1970 with “The Great White Hope.” Howard Sackler’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway play depicted the struggles of Jack Johnson, the first Black heavyweight boxing champion, amid the racism of early 20th-century America. In 1972, Jones repeated his role in the movie version and was nominated for an Academy Award as best actor.

Jones’ two wives were also actors. He married Julienne Marie Hendricks in 1967. After their divorce, he married Cecilia Hart, best known for her role as Stacey Erickson in the CBS police drama “Paris,” in 1982. (She died in 2016.) They had a son, Flynn Earl, born in 1983.

In 2022, the Cort Theatre on Broadway was renamed after Jones, with a ceremony that included Norm Lewis singing “Go the Distance,” Brian Stokes Mitchell singing “Make Them Hear You” and words from Mayor Eric Adams, Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson.

“You can’t think of an artist that has served America more,” director Kenny Leon told the AP. “It’s like it seems like a small act, but it’s a huge action. It’s something we can look up and see that’s tangible.”

Citing his stutter as one of the reasons he wasn’t a political activist, Jones nonetheless hoped his art could change minds.

“I realized early on, from people like Athol Fugard, that you cannot change anybody’s mind, no matter what you do,” he told the AP. “As a preacher, as a scholar, you cannot change their mind. But you can change the way they feel.”

Selena Gomez talks about being unable to carry a pregnancy due to health issues https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/selena-gomez-talks-about-being-unable-to-carry-a-pregnancy-due-to-health-issues/3713194/ 3713194 post 9868751 Photo by KC Armstrong/Deadline via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-2170236455.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Selena Gomez opened up about her love for boyfriend Benny Blanco in a new interview, explaining that her future family looks different than how she imagined it.

“I haven’t ever said this,” Gomez, told Vanity Fair for its October 2024 issue. “But I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”

The pop singer and co-star of the Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building” has struggled with a series of health problems: In 2013, Gomez was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease lupus and underwent a kidney transplant to treat it in 2017. She has also sought help for mental health problems such as depression on a number of occasions. In 2020, Gomez shared her bipolar depression diagnosis.

In her Vanity Fair interview, Gomez acknowledged her surprising plans for motherhood.

“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it,” Gomez told the outlet. “I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me. It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”

Gomez, 32, and Blanco, 36, a music producer, say they are head-over-heels in love.

“I’ve never been loved this way,” Gomez told Vanity Fair. “He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything.”

Blanco feels the same, telling TODAY with Hoda and Jenna in May of their relationship, “I wake up every day and I look in the mirror and I’m like, ‘How did this happen?’ But until anyone figures it out — wee!”

Gomez told Vanity Fair that she always planned to have kids at age 35.

“Before I met my boyfriend, I was single for five years, with the exception of going on a few dates,” Gomez told Vanity Fair. “And I was like, ‘OK, if this is the vibe, then what is the most important thing to me? Family.’ ”

Gomez says there is no pressure to move her relationship forward.

“We always make sure we’re protecting what we have, but there’s no rules,” she told Vanity Fair. “I want him to always be himself. I always want to be myself.”

If Gomez does get married, fans can count on another thing to stay the same.

“I’m not changing my name no matter what,” she told Vanity Fair. “I am Selena Gomez. That’s it.”

JonBenét Ramsey's dad says DNA in cold case still hasn't been tested  https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/national-international/jonbenet-ramseys-dad-says-dna-in-cold-case-still-hasnt-been-tested/3713331/ 3713331 post 9869262 Chris Rank/Sygma via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-542401698.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,202 Originally appeared on E! Online

JonBenét Ramsey’s father John Ramsey is still looking for answers 27 years after his daughter’s untimely death.

In fact, Ramsey alleges in a new TV series that police never tested DNA found on the weapon used to murder his then-6-year-old daughter in their Colorado home.

“I don’t know why they didn’t test it in the beginning,” Ramsey tells host Ana Garcia in a preview for the Sept. 9 episode of True Crime News. “To my knowledge it still hasn’t been tested. If they’re testing it and just not telling me, that’s great, but I have no reason to believe that.”

E! News reached out to the Boulder Police Department for comment on John’s claims, but due to the fact that JonBenét Ramsey’s case is an active and ongoing investigation, the department said it is unable to answer specific questions about actions taken or not taken.

JonBenét Ramsey, the youngest child of John and Patsy Ramsey was found sexually assaulted, beaten and strangled with a garrote in her family’s home the day after Christmas in 1996 almost eight hours after Patsy Ramsey — who died in 2006 — had frantically called the police to report her daughter had been kidnapped.

The case, which garnered national attention at the time, has continued to live on in infamy and has been the subject of numerous TV specials trying to get to the bottom of what led to JonBenét Ramsey’s death.

In fact, in 2016, JonBenét Ramsey’s brother Burke Ramsey broke his silence on the case, speaking to Dr. Phil McGraw, defending himself ahead of the CBS’ two-part special “The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey,” which alleged that he could have been the one to kill his sister when he was 10 years old.

The brother further responded to the CBS show by filing a $150 million defamation lawsuit against one of its experts Dr. Werner Spitz, calling the forensic investigator a “publicity seeker” who “once again interjected himself into a high-profile case to make unsupported, false, and sensational statements and accusations.”

In December 2016, Spitz filed a motion for the lawsuit to be dismissed with prejudice, according to documents obtained by E! News at the time, defending his Constitutional right to hypothesize and express his opinions about the case.

In the documents, Spitz’s lawyers wrote that “the First Amendment protects this speech on a matter of immense public concern” just as the many other “people [who] have offered various and contradictory hypotheses and theories about what happened.”

The case was settled in 2019. Burke Ramsey’s lawyer spoke out shortly after the settlement was reached at the time, tweeting, “After handling many defamation cases for them over the past 20 years, hopefully this is my last defamation case for this fine family.”

But while the case has yet to be solved, officials in Boulder have made it clear they are still trying to bring justice to JonBenét Ramsey. In a statement released ahead of the 25th anniversary of JonBenet Ramsey’s death in 2021, the Boulder PD said that with the major advancements in DNA testing, they had updated more than 750 samples using the latest technology and still hoped to get a match one day.

And as the unanswered questions have continued to linger, many who’ve investigated the tragedy have wondered whether the case will ever be solved.

“There’s still a good chance we’ll never know,” journalist Elizabeth Vargas, who hosted A&E’s 2019 special “Hunting JonBenét’s Killer: The Untold Story,” previously told E! News. “I don’t think it’s possible one person did this. That’s my own opinion, so that means two people, and that means at least two people out there know what happened.”

She added, “It’s incredible to me that those people have kept that secret, that people they probably told in their lives, because that’s a hard secret to keep, that nobody has told. We have all sorts of cold cases that were solved decades later, and I think this could be one of them.”

Mariah Carey speaks out after her mom and sister die on the same day https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/mariah-carey-speaks-out-mom-sister-die-same-day/3713071/ 3713071 post 9868419 Stefanie Keenan/Getty Images for Byron Allen AMG/TheGRIO Awards https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/240909-mariah-carey-getty.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 Originally appeared on E! Mariah Carey knows love takes time to heal.

After her mother Patricia Hickey and her sister Alison Carey both died on the same day in August, Carey has shared an update with her fans.

“Back at work,” she began the caption on a Sept. 8 Instagram video. “It’s been a couple of rough weeks, but I appreciate everyone’s love and support so much and I can’t wait to see my fans in China & Brazil. Love you!”

In the video, the 55-year-old is dressed in a black corseted gown as she sings her song “It’s Like That” while accompanied by a piano.

Carey’s post marks as her return to social media just weeks after losing her mother and sister.

At the time of their passing, the Grammy winner told E! News in an Aug. 26 statement, “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”

She continued, “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

Carey has not shared any additional information about her mother or sister’s causes of death.

Over the years, the “Always Be My Baby” singer has been candid about her strained relationships with her mother — who was a Juilliard-trained opera singer and vocal coach — and her sister Alison. (Carey also has a second sister Morgan.)

In fact, Carey detailed their history together in her 2020 memoir “The Meaning of Mariah.”

“Like many aspects of my life, my journey with my mother has been full of contradictions and competing realities,” she wrote. “It’s never been only black-and-white — it’s been a whole rainbow of emotions.” Carey detailed how while the two bonded over their shared love of music, as she grew older, Carey began to see jealousy from her mother.

“Having people you love be jealous of you professionally comes with the territory of success,” she wrote, “but when the person is your mother and the jealousy is revealed at such a tender age, it’s particularly painful.”

Carey — who shares twins Monroe and Moroccan, 13, with ex-husband Nick Cannon — also wrote how early experiences with her mother showed her “how misguided words from a mother can really affect a child.”

She also recalled difficult experiences with Alison while growing up.

Carey went on to say that when she was 12 years old, her sister “drugged me with Valium, offered me a pinky nail full of cocaine, inflicted me with third-degree burns, and tried to sell me out to a pimp.”

It’s an experience that has never left her. As she wrote, “I am still struggling through that time.”

Why ‘The Bear' star Will Poulter's fitness transformation is marvelous https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/why-the-bear-star-will-poulters-fitness-transformation-is-marvelous/3712664/ 3712664 post 9867093 Ryan Emberley/Getty Images for RBC https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-2170766140.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Will Poulter whisks a lot faster now.

After all, before “The Bear” star was making decadent desserts in the FX series — for which he earned an “Outstanding Guest Actor” in “A Comedy Series” nomination at the 2024 Emmys Sept. 15 — he was stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for “Guardians of The Galaxy: Vol 3.” That, of course, required a major fitness journey to transform into his super-human character.

And it came from the help of his personal trainer because to achieve the look of the shining Adam Warlock, he had to emulate perfection — or as close as he could.

“Will wanted to look as close to a Greek God as possible,” Dr. Benjamin Carraway told GQ in December. “I had medical doctors and psychiatrists helping me — I brought in a team of consultants. As a perfectionist, the consequences of him injuring himself or burning out with the training would have caused him a lot of psychological issues.”

But Poulter — who earned one of “The Bear’s” 23 nominations at the 2024 Emmys — was also aware that the process of his fitness transformation was an immense privilege.

“I had so much of the hard work done for me,” he explained to Variety in July 2022. “It was actually my job just to kind of train and eat, so I’ve got no complaints.”

And the 31-year-old was ready for the challenge because, as he told The Independent earlier that year, Warlock was “genetically engineered by scientists to be the perfect being.”

“The most important thing is that your mental and physical health has to be number one,” he explained. “The aesthetic goals have to be secondary. Otherwise, you end up promoting something that is unhealthy and unrealistic if you don’t have the financial backing of a studio paying for your meals and training.”

As for what he did to develop his buff physique?

“It’s been a lot of gym work and a very, very specific diet,” he revealed. “Quantities of food you wouldn’t necessarily want to ingest. And other times not enough food. I’ve gone through a series of different diets over the last few months.”

“I’ve gone through periods of looking at food and feeling like I can’t face it,” the “We’re the Millers” actor continued. “Then you blink and the next minute you’re ready to eat furniture because you’re so hungry.”

And while Poulter knows he looked good after bulking up for the 2023 film, and has even kept the muscular physique for his role as pasty chef Luca in “The Bear,” it’s incredibly unrealistic in day to day life. He noted, “I wouldn’t recommend anyone do what I did to get ready for that job.”

Selma Blair says she watches her films, ‘Legally Blonde' and ‘Cruel Intentions,' ‘all the time' https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/selma-blair-says-she-watches-her-films-legally-blonde-and-cruel-intentions-all-the-time/3712293/ 3712293 post 9865949 Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-2148135699-1.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=215,300 Selma Blair isn’t one of those Hollywood actors who never cops to watching her own movies. In fact, she still loves watching “Cruel Intentions” and “Legally Blonde.”

The 52-year-old actor told People she thought “Cruel Intentions,” in which she co-starred alongside Reese Witherspoon for the first time, was “one of the most gorgeous movies.”

“It still lasts. It still holds up. And I love it. And I love everyone in that cast,” Blair said from the red carpet at the Daily Front Row’s 11th Annual Fashion Media Awards on Sept. 6 in New York City.

“I’ll watch it all the time,” Blair added of the 1999 teen drama, which also starred Ryan Phillippe, Witherspoon’s real-life husband, and Blair’s close pal, Sarah Michelle Gellar.

“I mean, I don’t put it on,” Blair clarified. “But if it’s in the background, I will never turn it off. … Like, never.”

“Legally Blonde,” Blair’s second film with Witherspoon, is another winner in her book.

“(I) never turn off ‘Legally Blonde,’ too. I’ll never turn that off,” Blair told People of the movie. “Because that’s just really happy … and they have a great energy and they’re beautiful … and I was so thrilled.”

While “Legally Blonde” is a feel-good comedy about Witherspoon’s sunny protagonist Elle Woods excelling at Harvard Law School — and befriending a dour rival character played by Blair— “Cruel Intentions” explored a darker subject matter.

The movie told the story of a group of wealthy New York City teenagers who became entangled in a romantic web filled with lies, lust and heartbreak.

In one of the movie’s most famous scenes, Blair and Gellar share a steamy kiss, which the pals gamely reenacted when they reunited with Witherspoon in 2015.

Last year, Blair revealed that her mom, of all people, criticized her kissing technique after seeing the movie.

“She was like, ‘Honestly, Selma, did you have to give so much tongue?’” Blair said a video interview with SELF

“And I was a little concerned that I was a little slug-like in Sarah’s mouth. I didn’t know that kiss would be so iconic.”

Nicole Kidman announces death of her mom Janelle https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/nicole-kidman-announces-death-of-her-mom-janelle/3712179/ 3712179 post 9865625 Peter Carrette Archive/Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-121416585.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,197 Originally appeared on E! Nicole Kidman is mourning the loss of her mother Janelle Ann Kidman.

The actress announced the death of her mom at age 84 through a statement that Halina Rejn, who directed her in “Babygirl,” read onstage at the Venice Film Festival Sept. 6 while accepting the star’s award for Best Actress.

“Today, I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed,” Kidman’s statement said. “I am in shock and I have to go to my family.”

The statement continued, “But this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me and she made me. I’m beyond grateful that I that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken.”

The cause of Janelle Kidman’s death was not made public.

Nicole Kidman’s mother, who worked as a nursing instructor, had suffered health issues in recent years. In 2022, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oscar winner shared that she returned to her family’s native Australia to be with her mom.

“We’re down here primarily to take care of my mother,” the now-57-year-old said in an NPR interview in January of that year, “and to have her surrounded by her grandchildren.”

Nicole Kidman added that the family visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales together. “Even though [the] omicron [variant] is raging through this country, we were able to take her into the gallery after hours and show her the Matisse exhibit,” she said, “which coming from a mother who’s raised me in the arts, it was soothing balm.”

The actress added, “I’m at the place where I’m being given the chance to view the world — because of how close we are, my mom is giving me the chance to view the world through an 81-year-old woman’s eyes. That is so beneficial right now because she’s so cognizant. She has every faculty, brain faculty, available. She hasn’t lost anything. She hasn’t lost any memory, which is fascinating.”

Nicole Kidman’s mom and dad Antony Kidman, who worked as a psychologist, have been among their daughter’s biggest cheerleaders throughout her career. They occasionally accompanied her at celebrity events, including at the 2003 Oscars, where they cheered her on from the audience as she won her first Academy Award for “The Hours.”

After the actress’ father died at age 75 in 2014, Nicole Kidman leaned on the support of her husband, Keith Urban, and their daughters Sunday Rose, now 16, and Faith Margaret, 13.

“I called him screaming and crying and he was about to go on stage and he walked off stage and he got on a plane. He’d just gotten there,” the actress said on “CBS Sundays Mornings” in 2016. “He flew six hours and he was right back and he literally picked me up and pretty much carried me through the next two weeks.”

The actress added, “And I also had my children going, ‘It’s gonna be alright, Mama.’ It’s interesting the way children view things, ’cause they’re like, ‘You’ve still got your mommy.'”

Janelle, who shared a close bond with Nicole, had also battled breast cancer in 1985, when the Moulin Rouge star was 17.

“It was very hard to see your mother going through such pain,” Nicole told the Sydney Morning Herald in 1997. “It opened my eyes to mortality, and to pain and suffering, and from that point on I was determined to support and be a part of and in some way help.”

Nicole and then-husband Tom Cruise went on to finance the Women’s Reproductive Cancer Center at UCLA. In 2023, twelve years after they divorced, the actress and Keith made a financial gift to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville to help fund clinical trials for breast cancer treatments.

In addition to the actress, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, Janelle is also survived by the actress’ younger sister Antonia Kidman, her six kids and Nicole and Tom’s children Bella Kidman Cruise, 31, and Connor Cruise, 29.

The entertainer made an appearance at the film’s premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 6, wearing a skin-baring silver Tamara Ralph dress with black bows down the sides.

The event was Lopez’s first public appearance since filing for divorce from Affleck, who was noticeably absent at the premiere.

While Affleck was not in sight, the co-stars of the sports drama, Bobby Cannavale, Jharrel Jerome and Don Cheadle, as well as Matt Damon, who is also a producer on the film, were in attendance.

The stars posed for photos on the carpet, with Lopez standing in between the leading men.

“Unstoppable” tells the incredible life story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and went on to win a national championship at Arizona State University.

This marked the first time that Affleck and Lopez worked on a project together since they got married in 2022. Affleck was also featured in the singer’s 2024 “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story” and its accompanying documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.”

The “If You Had My Love” singer filed for divorce from Affleck on Aug. 20 after two years of marriage. The news came months after she canceled her summer tour on May 31 to take “time off to be with her children, family and close friends,” according to Live Nation.

The date is significant in that it is the wedding anniversary of their second wedding in Georgia.

In 2021, the two rekindled their romance after getting engaged in 2002 and later calling it off in 2004.

The pair have yet to publicly speak out on their divorce, though according to documents obtained by TODAY.com, the “Hustlers” star requested to change her last name from Affleck back to Lopez. She also asked the court to deny her and Affleck the ability to collect spousal support.

On Aug. 31, J.Lo shared a slideshow filled with photos from her summer. One of the messages included in the post read, “Everything is unfolding in divine order.” Another message written on her shirt in another photo read, “she’s in bloom and unbothered/ out of reach and at peace.”

Why Lady Gaga hasn't smoked weed in years  https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/why-lady-gaga-hasnt-smoked-weed-in-years/3711871/ 3711871 post 9864590 Photo by Alessandra Benedetti - Corbis/Corbis via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-2170174150.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Lady Gaga no longer has a bad romance with touring.

The “Die With a Smile” singer revealed that she was able to quit smoking weed in 2022 after the widespread muscle pain she was experiencing from being diagnosed with fibromyalgia subsided.

In fact, Gaga — who developed the chronic disorder after fracturing her hip during her 2013 “Born This Way Ball tour” — was even able to complete the entirety of her “Chromatica Ball tour” without turning to marijuana as a way to treat her discomfort.

“I did it pain-free,” she told Vogue in an interview published Sept. 5. “I haven’t smoked pot in years. I’ve, like, changed. A lot.”

And Gaga, 38, credits her fiancé Michael Polansky — who she confirmed her engagement to at the 2024 Paris Olympics — with helping her make the lifestyle change, as he was by her side during those 2022 concert dates. Going forward, she also wants the tech investor to be involved in other aspects of her career.

“Now, Polansky and I are really excited to organize our lives — and our marriage — around our creative output as a couple,” the Grammy winner shared. “Which is really different than, like, doing what other people want you to do.”

“For a long time, for most of my career, my life was controlled by this business: what people wanted from me; what they hoped I could achieve; how to keep me going,” she continued. “And that can be a lot of pressure and it’s scary. But I feel like I’m finally coming out on the other side.”

One way Polansky has already made an impact on her music? The 46-year-old inspired Gaga to return to her roots on her forthcoming seventh studio album.

“Michael is the person who told me to make a new pop record,” Gaga shared. “He was like, ‘Babe. I love you. You need to make pop music.’”

Polansky had a strong hunch that creating songs in the genre would be a fulfilling journey for his partner.

“Like anyone would do for the person they love, I encouraged her to lean in to the joy of it,” he told Vogue. “On the Chromatica tour, I saw a fire in her; I wanted to help her keep that alive all the time and just start making music that made her happy.”

Selena Gomez is officially a billionaire https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/selena-gomez-is-officially-a-billionaire/3711629/ 3711629 post 9863749 Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/AP24236085689853.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Only billionaires in the building.

Selena Gomez made the Bloomberg Billionaires Index for the first time, reaching a net worth of $1.3 billion. The “Only Murders in the Building” star, 32, has become one of the United States’ youngest female self-made billionaires largely due to the success of her cosmetics company, Rare Beauty Brands Inc., Bloomberg reported Sept. 6.

More than 81 percent of Gomez’s net worth derives from her stake in the group, which she founded in 2020. And while there were rumors she would be walking away from the brand earlier this year, she subsequently confirmed she had no plans to sell the company.

“I don’t think I’m going anywhere,” she said during a conversation for the 2024 TIME100 Summit April 24. “I am enjoying this a little too much.”

In addition to the staggering income from Rare, Bloomberg reported that almost 7 percent of her net worth stems from her professional endorsements and almost 5 percent from touring, which the “Come and Get It” singer last did in 2016.

Also, more than 2.5 percent is due to her mental-health startup Wondermind — which launched in 2022 — and the rest of her net worth stems from money made from album and streaming sales and real estate investments. Plus, of course, there’s her acting work in projects like “Only Murders in the Building,” for which she just earned her fourth Primetime Emmy nomination.

Gomez shared insight into her professional future in January. “I do feel like I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting,” she on the SmartLess podcast. “I wanted to be an actress, I never really intended on being a singer full-time but apparently that hobby turned into something else.”

Bloomberg — which based its wealth analysis on the lowest estimated value of Gomez’s business stakes and on assets that could be confirmed or traced from publicly disclosed figures — reported that Gomez, who as a child starred on “Barney & Friends” and “Wizards of Waverly Place,” earns at least $6 million per season of “Only Murders in the Building,” which began its fourth season Aug. 27.

‘Type of Way' rapper Rich Homie Quan dies at 33 https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/atlanta-rapper-rich-homie-quan-dies-34/3710667/ 3710667 post 9860704 Stephen J. Cohen/Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-2154678386.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Rich Homie Quan, the Atlanta rapper who gained mainstream fame through the trap singles “Type of Way” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh),” has died. He was 33.

Homie Quan, whose legal name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, died at an Atlanta hospital, the Fulton County Medical Examiner confirmed to The Associated Press. The medical examiner was informed of his death Thursday; details were not immediately available, with an autopsy scheduled for Friday.

Quan was one of the biggest names in hip-hop in the mid-2010s. He released a slew of mixtapes before he broke through in 2013 with the infectious “Type of Way.” The song became such a success that several other rappers jumped on the remix, including Jeezy and Meek Mill. He maintained his momentum, appearing on a YG track with Jeezy and releasing the London on da Track-produced song “Lifestyle” through his Rich Gang rap collective that included Young Thug and Birdman.

Quan followed up with “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh),” a song produced by DJ Spinz and Nitti Beatz. It became his highest charting solo single at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He also featured on Lil Dicky’s viral “$ave Dat Money.”

In 2018, Quan debuted his first and only studio album “Rich as in Spirit,” which mostly went without any features — except for “Think About It,” a single with Rick Ross.

Quan spoke with The Associated Press in 2022 about returning to music after an abrupt hiatus. At the time, the rapper said he was going through litigation with independent label T.I.G. (Think It’s a Game Record), but was prepared to make a comeback.

During that time, Quan ended up in a feud with his old collaborator Young Thug — who along with rapper Gunna — were among a group indicted on charges of conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act and also accused of participation in a criminal street gang.

Quan said there was no beef between him Young Thug and was open to having a conversation with him if the opportunity presented itself. He said he hated to see Young Thug locked up, adding that rappers were being targeted by law enforcement.

“I wouldn’t say unfairly targeted because at the same time, some of these rappers are putting guns in videos and, you know, it’s like social media — it goes back to the social media thing,” he said.

“I think we showing too much, I think they’re showing too much, you know what I mean. Like that’s the difference in my music, I’ma tell a story but I ain’t going to tell you how I did it,” he added. “It’s still Black art, but we’re definitely being targeted. So that’s why I’m mindful of what I say in my music.”

Michael Keaton is ditching his stage name for his real name after almost 50 years https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/michael-keaton-is-ditching-his-stage-name-for-his-real-name-after-almost-50-years/3709784/ 3709784 post 9858442 Marilla Sicilia/Archivio Marilla Sicilia/Mondadori Portfolio via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-2169265099.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Just don’t say his name three times.

Michael Keaton is ready to return to his roots, more specifically, his birth name. The “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” star shared that after five decades in show business playing several iconic characters like Batman and Beetlejuice, he wants to use his original moniker—Michael Douglas—again.

Due to the Screen Actor’s Guild’s rules that no two members can have the same name, Keaton was forced to come up with a solution due to both “Wall Street” actor Michael Douglas and talk show host Mike Douglas.

“I was looking through—I can’t remember if it was a phone book,” the 72-year-old recalled to People in an interview published Sept. 4. “I must’ve gone, ‘I don’t know, let me think of something here.’ And I went, ‘Oh, that sounds reasonable.’”

Moving forward, Keaton plans to be credited professionally as Michael Keaton Douglas, a combination of his stage name and his real name.

The Oscar-nominated actor said he planned to use the new name on his 2023 film “Knox Goes Away,” which he directed and starred in, but noted that he simply “forgot” amid the chaos of making the film.

“I said, ‘Hey, just as a warning, my credit is going to be Michael Keaton Douglas.’ And it totally got away from me,” he shared. “And I forgot to give them enough time to put it in and create that. But that will happen.”

Keaton isn’t the first Hollywood A-lister to decide to revert back to their birth name in a professional setting. Emma Stone, who coincidentally starred alongside Keaton in 2014’s “Birdman,” previously announced her intentions of returning to her first name of Emily.

“That would be so nice,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published April 24. “I would like to be Emily.”

In fact, Stone said that several of her colleagues already do.

“When I get to know them, people that I work with do,” she explained. “I freaked out a couple of years ago. For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.'”

Katy Perry tears up recalling why she and Orlando Bloom broke up and eventually reconciled https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/national-international/katy-perry-tears-up-recalling-why-she-and-orlando-bloom-broke-up-and-eventually-reconciled/3709462/ 3709462 post 9856907 Amy Sussman/FilmMagic https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-1169488865.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Katy Perry grew emotional as she reflected on the time she and fiancé Orlando Bloom broke up for nearly a year.

The “Woman’s World” singer, 39, opened up about her relationship with Bloom in a recent episode of Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast

Bloom and Perry, who began dating in 2016, separated in 2017 and reconciled about a year later. They got engaged in 2019 and share a 4-year-old daughter, Daisy.

Perry revealed that she and Bloom only “kind of” spoke during their separation.

“He was boundaried,” she said.

The singer also explained that in order to work on her relationship with Bloom, she first needed to work on herself and acknowledge her own needs.

“We all have our strengths and our opportunities for growth. But one of his strengths (is) when I crumble, he can step in and be that anchor,” she said of her fiancé. “Because I’m usually just, ‘Alpha, alpha, testosterone, testosterone! I got this, I don’t need any help!’”

“But actually, I do need help, I do need a partner,” she continued, growing tearful.

“I went on a guided journey the other day, and for as strong as I am, I was like, ‘No, I do need, I do need, I do have needs. And I do need help sometimes,” she continued. “So it was a beautiful revelation.”

Perry explained that in the early days of their romance, she and Bloom were in different places when it came to personal development and the way they approached relationships.

“We weren’t really in it from Day 1,” she said. “I mean, he was, in a way, because he had just done a huge time of celibacy, and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was just like, ‘I can’t do this anymore, I need to swim in a different pond.’ But I had yet to do a lot of some real work.”

She said a turning point came when Bloom attended the Hoffman Process, an intensive weeklong therapy program.

“He went there, and then he came back, and he wasn’t playing this cat-mouse game anymore with me, and I was like, ‘This is boring, I’m moving on,’” she said. “Because I was so used to this push-pull … I was playing games. It was a dopamine hit, right? It’s what I knew.”

That marked the start of a “really tough year” of personal exploration, Perry said.

Then, near the end of the year they were separated, the singer said she decided to try out the same intensive therapy program that Bloom had attended.

“Then I got the tools and spoke the same language, and it changed my life,” she said. “It saved my life. I would be dead without it. I would not be on this planet without that process, and meditation.”

One thing she learned during this time of self-reflection was that she relied on external validation to bolster her sense of self.

This especially came to light with the release of her 2017 album, “Witness,” which received mixed reviews.

“When ‘Witness’ came out and things started to shift, and I thought I really loved myself and I thought I really had that center, but actually that core was all created from outside validation,” she said.

Perry also reflected on what initially drew her to Bloom, naming his “adventure spirit” and his loyalty.

She also shared how their bond has deepened the more they work on their relationship, and themselves.

“The more we do the work, the more we find the next level,” she said. “And sometimes we get stuck and we’re like, ‘OK, well, let’s go in to do the work, and this is going to be annoying, and I don’t want to do it …’ And then we find the next level, and that’s why we’re continuing in the relationship.”

Queen guitarist Brian May says he had a ‘minor stroke' but can still play https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/queen-guitarist-brian-may-stroke/3709158/ 3709158 post 9855890 Photo by Rob Grabowski/Invision/AP, File https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/AP24248496247388.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Brian May, the lead guitarist of British rock band Queen, revealed Wednesday that he had a “minor stroke” last week, which caused him to temporarily lose control over his arm.

May, 77, said in a video on his website that he was doing “OK” but that he was “grounded” and advised not to drive, fly or do any activity which raises his heart rate too high.

“I’m here to bring you first of all some good news, I think, good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days,” he said. “And I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup that I mentioned, happened about a week ago, and what they called it was a minor stroke and all of a sudden, out of the blue, I didn’t have any control over this arm.”

May said the experience was “a little scary” but praised the “fantastic care” he received from his local hospital in Surrey, southwest of London.

“I really don’t want sympathy,” he said. “Please don’t do that because it will clutter up my inbox and I hate that!”

May and Roger Taylor, the drummer of Queen, have continued to perform since the band’s frontman Freddie Mercury died in 1991.

Naomi Campbell shades ‘other lady' Anna Wintour in award speech https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/naomi-campbell-shades-other-lady-anna-wintour-in-award-speech/3709386/ 3709386 post 9856619 Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/Campbell-Wintour.png?fit=300,169&quality=85&strip=all Originally appeared on E! Naomi Campbell doesn’t think Anna Wintour’s latest move was very in vogue.

While the Vogue editor-in-chief was supposed to award the supermodel with the Fashion Icon Award at Harlem’s Fashion Row’s Style Awards Sept. 3, she ultimately passed the presentation baton to Harper’s Bazaar editor Samira Nasr due to Campbell’s tardiness.

“I am a very punctual person,” Wintour explained in her speech, via a video shared to X, formerly Twitter. “I have the honor of presenting tonight to someone who is often late.”

And while Wintour also reportedly lauded the 54-year-old for her “bold” and “bright” personality, she didn’t stick around the stage for Campbell to claim her award — or listen to her clap back in her acceptance speech.

“I want to say this,” Campbell said, directing her attention at Samira. “Everything’s going to work out the way it’s going to work out. It wasn’t my choice to have the other lady. I’d much rather have this.”

The model also admitted that Wintour, 74, wasn’t far off with her anachronistic critique.

“Yes, Naomi’s always late,” she continued. “But I believe in my high power, and I want to thank my higher power for having me be here.”

E! News has reached out to reps for Anna Wintour but has not yet heard back.

Of course, Campbell is not the first person to be the subject of scrutiny from the British fashion icon. Wintour — who has been the editor of Vogue since the late 1980s — is known for her polarizing dedication to her own decorum.

After all, in the 2022 biography Wintour, author Amy Odell detailed how Wintour is not too far off her “The Devil Wears Prada” counterpart Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). As former Vogue assistant Aimee Cho said in the biography, “Everything felt very true to life, but through a negative lens.”

Described as the “notorious ankle bracelet fashionista” in a press release, Sorokin was announced Wednesday on “Good Morning America” along with the likes of former NBA star Dwight Howard, actor Tori Spelling and Jenn Tran, “The Bachelorette” lead whose season ended in heartbreak just Tuesday night. Tran, the first Asian American “Bachelorette,” was a contestant on Joey Graziadei’s season of “The Bachelor” — and he, too, will be vying for the trophy.

Complicating Sorokin’s latest starring role is the ankle bracelet she’s worn since October 2022, when she started her house arrest — though the show appears to be leaning into it with a promo image of Sorokin in a glittering dress and an ankle monitor on her leg. While she was released from prison in February 2021, immigration authorities picked her up shortly after she got out, claiming she overstayed her visa and must be returned to her native Germany. The “Inventing Anna” inspiration was in ICE custody for over a year before a judge cleared the way for her to switch to home confinement in October 2022 while she fights the deportation case.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has not returned requests for comment regarding changes to Sorokin’s house arrest conditions to accommodate filming in the Los Angeles area. Sorokin’s spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, confirmed Tuesday that she could travel within 70 miles of her home base and anywhere in the five boroughs of New York City under previous house arrest conditions, but could not comment on any changes to those rules.

While under house arrest, she had to abide by the immigration judge’s condition that she does not use social media, but Sorokin kept busy. She started a podcast — “The Anna Delvey Show” — that featured guests like comedian Whitney Cummings and technology journalist Taylor Lorenz who traveled to her apartment in New York’s East Village to record.

“So many people became famous for bad things and were able to kind of segue it into something different,” she said in a June 2023 interview with The Associated Press.

“Dancing With the Stars” is the first mainstream way Sorokin is attempting to accomplish that goal. She’ll be competing in the upcoming 33rd season, which premieres Sept. 17 on ABC and Disney+.

Sorokin will be joining Team USA’s breakout star from the Olympics: Stephen Nedoroscik — better known to the internet as “Pommel Horse Guy.” The 25-year-old who won two bronze medals in Paris was the first contestant announced, in August fresh off his Olympics’ high. He became an internet sensation thanks to memes of his preparation before competing and of his Superman-like transformation before hitting the floor.

Another U.S. Olympian will be competing: Ilona Maher, the rugby player and bronze medalist who became a social media darling for her funny TikToks and body positivity content.

The series hosted by Alfonso Riberio and Julianne Hough also announced that Ezra Sosa, a previous member of the show’s troupe of dancers, will be among those promoted to a “pro” this season; he is partnered with Sorokin. Artem Chigvintsev, who was arrested last week on a domestic violence charge, will not be returning as a pro.

Who is in the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 33 cast?

‘Many doors were slammed in our face': Spice Girl Mel B speaks of music industry sexism in the 1990s https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/business/money-report/many-doors-were-slammed-in-our-face-spice-girl-mel-b-speaks-of-music-industry-sexism-in-the-1990s/3708638/ 3708638 post 9854666 Dave Benett | Getty Images Entertainment | Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/108028172-1725274522819-gettyimages-1165543779-775397530_dm_8730a_d92ccf4782de4c6369c9c2a8598ccf18.jpeg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,176 Spice Girl Melanie Brown, better known as Mel B or Scary Spice, has spoken of the sexism that the girl group faced in a male-dominated music industry during the 1990s.

Speaking to CNBC’s Tania Bryer, Brown, who became a member of the iconic British pop group upon its formation in 1994, talked about a struggle to be taken seriously.

“We entered into the industry at a time when it was all boy bands and so many doors were slammed in our face like ‘girl bands are not going to work’ and we’d be like ‘yes they are, you’ll see when we’re rich and famous,'” Brown said last month in an episode of “The CNBC Conversation.”

“But we were just on a mission, and we managed to do it.”

The iconic band was put together by Heart Management, which held auditions for a girl group that would compete with popular British boy bands at the time. The group is made up of five members: Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell-Horner, and Victoria Beckham.

The group’s “girl power” mantra attracted a young, mainly female fanbase and launched them to the top of the charts.

The Spice Girls’ debut single “Wannabe” in 1996 was a number one hit in around 30 countries and the first album “Spice” became the world’s top-selling album of 1997. The group has gone on to sell more than 85 million records worldwide.

“We wrote all of our own songs so we’d all be there writing lyrics together going ‘no we need to empower women, we need to make sure that girls don’t feel like they have to conform to this or to that,'” Brown told CNBC.

“When we came out in the early 90s it was still very male predominant, you know, every interview, every board meeting that we went to, it was all male, and now you do see women in positions of power, not enough, not clearly enough, but it is changing,” she added.

There have been incremental improvements in gender diversity in the music industry scene in the U.K. The 2024 Glastonbury Festival featured two female headlining acts for the first time in its over 50-year history

Meanwhile, the U.K. Music Diversity Report 2024, which surveyed 2,874 people working behind the scenes of the music industry, found that women in senior positions had risen from 40.4% in 2020 to 48.3% in 2024.

However, gender equity in the music industry still has a long way to go. The report also found that women were more likely to be paid less than men. Overall, 55% of respondents who said they were unpaid were women, and only 30% of male respondents said the same.

On the other hand, 53.2% of men were earning more than £100,000 (roughly $131,000) while only 43.4% of women were also earning as much or more.

Additionally, 51% of women in the U.K. music industry have said they experienced discrimination while working as a musician, compared with only 6% of men, according to the 2024 Women Musicians Insight Report collated by Musician’s Census.

Almost a third of female respondents said they were sexually harassed while working as a musician compared with 5% of men, per Musician’s Census.

Chisholm has previously said that the group’s “girl power” slogan was inspired by their struggles with gender discrimination in the industry, according to an interview with outlet Female First in 2018.

“When we started, we were a pop group and we just wanted to sing and be famous and travel the world and we never really thought about that side of things at all. But, as soon as we were heading into the music industry, we started to be faced with some sexism. We were told girls don’t sell,” Chisholm said.

“It gave us even more determination to succeed because we realised very early on, we weren’t just doing it for ourselves and each other, we were doing it for girls. Being told we couldn’t do something was like a red rag to a bull to the Spice Girls,” she added.

Channing Tatum’s heart is dancing for his fiancée Zoë Kravitz.

The “She’s the Man” star paid tribute to the “Big Little Lies” alum in a touching social media post following the release of their new film “Blink Twice,” which was her directorial debut.

“This little sweet. She So tired bro,” Tatum, 44, wrote alongside a snap of Kravitz, 35, lying asleep with her head in his lap. “Every time I wondered if she’d break…. She just kept going and going and going. Always on the dig for truth. She pour’d every single ounce of her into this film.”

The “Magic Mike” star then went on to share his dedication to Kravitz and their first project together.

“I’m so proud to stand ten toes down for her, this film and everyone in it. forever,” he continued. “Knowing what it took to make it. No one will ever know.”

Tatum — who shares daughter Everly, 11, with ex Jenna Dewan — rounded off his heartwarming post by professing his love for his fiancée, writing, “Thank you for finding me and seeing me. I got you forever. Me and you back to back against it all. I’ll never blink. Let’s go.”

And this is just the latest praise between Kravitz and Tatum, who met in 2021 after mutual friend Riley Keough connected the pair for the film.

“We were so in tune,” the actress told E! News in August. “We worked on this project together, developing the character for so long. There are some scenes that people will see that are just off the charts. He’s so good in the film. I’m so proud of him.”

For his part, Tatum attributes the success of their relationship to their work on the movie.

“Our relationship was sort of born inside of the creative process,” he told E! News in a separate interview. “It didn’t feel any different. That was what brought us together and made us really feel like we’re very connected on what we love about life, what we love about just things in general about being alive.”

Elton John reveals he's partially blind after ‘severe' eye infection https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/elton-john-partially-blind-eye-infection/3708483/ 3708483 post 9853982 Theo Wargo/Getty Images for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-1773731329.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Elton John revealed on social media he is currently recovering after a severe eye infection caused him temporary blindness in one eye.

The 77-year-old “Rocket Man” singer revealed the news through a statement posted on social media on Tuesday.

“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” John said on Instagram. “I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”

Following John’s announcement, several celebrities, including Billie Jean King, commented wishing him a speedy recovery.

“Sending our love and support your way. Feel better soon, friend,” King wrote.

“Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you,” commented fashion designer Donatella Versace.

In recent years, John has experienced some trouble with his health.

Most recently in 2023, John was briefly hospitalized as a precaution after falling at his villa in Nice, France, TODAY reported.

“Following a slip yesterday at his home in the south of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure,” a statement from John’s representative shared with TODAY. “Following checkups, he was immediately discharged this morning and (he is) now back at home and in good health.”

In 2021, the “Benny and the Jets” singer also had undergone hip surgery after he “fell awkwardly on a hard surface.” His recovery forced him to postpone some of his farewell tour dates.

John retired from touring in July 2023 after wrapping up his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour.

Elle Macpherson says she was diagnosed with breast cancer 7 years ago and refused chemotherapy https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/elle-macpherson-diagnosed-breast-cancer-7-years-ago-refused-chemotherapy/3708467/ 3708467 post 9853897 Naomi Rahim/WireImage via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-2058137053-e1725404110311.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Famed model Elle Macpherson revealed on Monday that she’s been living with a breast cancer diagnosis for seven years — all while eschewing chemotherapy.

In an interview with Australian Women’s Weekly, the 60-year-old explained why she opted against the standard treatment in favor of what she called a more “holistic” approach.

“It was a shock, it was unexpected, it was confusing, it was daunting in so many ways,” the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model said of the diagnosis in the interview published Monday. “And it really gave me an opportunity to dig deep in my inner sense to find a solution that worked for me.”

Macpherson, who has an upcoming book, “elle,” said it was difficult for her to take this nontraditional path.

“I chose an holistic approach. Saying no to standard medical solutions was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. But saying no to my own inner sense would have been even harder,” she wrote, according to excerpts quoted by Australian Women’s Weekly.

“Sometimes an authentic choice from the heart makes no sense to others … but it doesn’t have to.”

She conceded this approach isn’t for everyone.

“People thought
I was crazy but I knew I had to make
a choice that truly resonated with
me,” Macpherson wrote. “To me, that meant addressing emotional as well as physical factors associated with breast cancer. It was time for deep, inner reflection. And that took courage.”

Macpherson’s two sons, Flynn, 19, and Cy, 14, disagreed over their mom’s choices.

“Cy simply thought that chemo kills you. And so he never wanted me to do it because he thought that was a kiss of death,” she wrote. “Flynn, being more conventional, wasn’t comfortable with my choice at all. He is my son, though, and would support me through anything and love me through my choices, even if he didn’t agree with them. My children were extremely supportive in their different ways but I knew they felt very scared.”

Her medical team consists of a naturopathy practitioner, a holistic dentist, an osteopath, a chiropractor and therapists, according to Australian Women’s Weekly.

She’s alive and well today.

“In traditional terms, they’d say I’m in clinical remission, but I would say I’m in utter wellness. And I am!” Macpherson said.

“Truly, from every perspective, every blood test, every scan, every imaging test … but also emotionally, spiritually and mentally — not only physically. It’s not only what your blood tests say, it’s how and why you are living your life on all levels.”

Macpherson has a history of publicly embracing unconventional and controversial approaches to medicine. She once dated disgraced British physician Andrew Wakefield and helped him promote his anti-vaccine movie, “1986: The Act.”

Wakefield is best known for making a discredited link between measles vaccines and autism, a disproven claim that made him a prominent figure in the anti-vaccine movement.

Tamra Judge is taking her fans far behind the scenes.

The “Real Housewives of Orange County” star took advantage of the holiday weekend to get some cosmetic work done, sharing videos from her recovery after undergoing a brow lift and a CO2 laser treatment with a blue chemical peel.

The 57-year-old shared her first video in an Aug. 31 Instagram, writing, “Seven years ago, I had a lower facelift but skipped the upper — like painting the house but forgetting the trim. Stay tuned for updates!”

Judge’s face was a light blue as she recovered from the treatment, but things got even more shocking in her Sept. 1 update as the reality star showed off her swollen face, neck and chest.

“Day three and the swelling’s making a statement,” she captioned the Instagram clip. “Progress isn’t always pretty, but it’s happening.”

In the clip, Judge can barely keep her eyes open due to the swelling and peel.

“Swelling is supposed to be at its worst right now,” she shared. “I don’t know how it can get any worse. It feels like my skin’s about to burst. You can see it’s getting oozy. I can barely open my eyes.”

And while she said the doctor told her she’d be “turning a corner” the next day, Judge didn’t seem too concerned, saying, “Looking like it’s supposed to look, nice and crispy.”

She got some love from “Southern Charm” star Madison LeCroy, who commented on the post, “You’re going to look 16!”

Dr. Donald Mowlds, who performed the procedure, notes on his website that brow lifts are performed to reduce wrinkles in the forehead. And the blue chemical peel helps with skin tightening and the elimination of deeper wrinkles.

In 2023, Judge opened up about all of the previous work she’s had done during a Q&A with fans.

“Botox. I do not do fillers! I also keep my face out of the sun,” she shared, “I love IPLs [intense pulsed light therapy] once a year.”

She added of her lips, “I’ve had them plumped up a few times. I get the urge about every other year when I see someone with full lips.”

Country singer Rory Feek denies ‘cult' ties, allegations of endangering daughter Indy https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/national-international/country-singer-rory-feek-denies-cult-ties-allegations-of-endangering-daughter-indy/3708107/ 3708107 post 9852490 Mindy Small/FilmMagic via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-1193197824.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,238 Originally appeared on E! Online

Rory Feek is telling his side of the story.

In the wake of the allegations made against him by his eldest daughter Heidi Feek, the country singer penned a note to both Heidi and his second-eldest daughter Hopie Feek in an Aug. 31 blog post titled “love, dad.”

Noting that he felt the internet was “not the place to settle family disputes,” the 59-year-old called out his older children for making accusations against him writing, “It is wrong in every way. My guess is that one day, my older girls, when they are even older girls, will look back and wish they had found a way to do this differently.”

He claimed that after two years of allegations from Heidi, he previously opted not to respond because “I love my kids.”

But in the wake of new claims and legal action from the 37-year-old, Feek broke his silence on the matter, saying of their dispute, “Love is the only answer.”

Much of the sisters’ claims surround their 10-year-old sister Indiana (Indy), who is the daughter of Rory and his late wife, Joey Feek, and who has Down Syndrome. Joey, who was half of the country duo Rory + Joey, died in 2016 after a battle with cancer.

Rory said that prior to Joey’s death, they both got to know families and individuals in an organization called Homestead Heritage in Texas. The group defines itself as an “agrarian and craft-based intentional Christian community,” however, there have been past claims that individuals in the group were involved in sexual and child abuse claims as well as domestic violence, per The Texas Observer.

“If you’re asking if Homestead Heritage or Greycliff is a cult, the answer is no,” Rory wrote, noting that there are “bad apples” in every community. “Those folks are just living in a way that other people don’t like or understand, and it’s a whole lot easier to call something a cult and dismiss it than it is to look deeper into and actually find out what it is they are doing and why they’re doing it.”

He also accused his daughters of not speaking to him about the allegations against Homestead Heritage.

“What saddens me about the accusations against them the most is that no one reached out to me to ask about them or anyone else,” he explained. “They just looked online, found people saying bad things that frustrated ex-members and strangers have said through the years, and ran with it as truth.”

This comes after Heidi and Hopie made accusations against Rory in a Taste of Country interview and on social media.

“Rory often left Hopie and I with people who took advantage of us – Hopie far worse than me, but she isn’t ready to tell that story yet,” Heidi wrote on Instagram on Aug. 29. “Recently Indy was left in the care of a group with a well documented history of physical and sexual abuse of children.”

Rory, who remarried Indy’s teacher, Rebecca back in July, added that his youngest child “has never been more loved or better cared for than she is right now.”

Rory wrote, “For the first time in her life, she has a mother,” after Joey died when Indiana was just two.

When Rory and Rebecca went on their honeymoon, they left Indiana in the care of the family that Heidi expressed concerns over, though Rory defended them in his blog post, calling the couple the “kindest, most beautiful people I’ve ever met in my life.”

He went on to note that Indiana, who served as a flower girl in her sister Hopie’s 2018 wedding, “absolutely” misses her sisters after he banned her from visiting them.

“Every couple of months, I used to let Indiana spend a night or two with her big sisters in Alabama, but about a year ago, I stopped allowing that,” Rory wrote. “Mostly because they refused to respect my wishes when she was there.”

Acknowledging his differing viewpoints with his older children, the self-proclaimed conservative Christian said that Heidi and Hopie didn’t respect his wishes when it came to boundaries he set for Indiana. Then things got even more heated amongst the family.

“When Child Protective Services called me out of nowhere, saying that it had been reported that Indiana was being neglected, along with other accusations, Heidi and Hopie forfeited their right to speak to their little sister,” Rory wrote. “The situation had escalated to them taping the conversations they were having with her and leading her on so they could find ammunition to use against me, and it had become clear that Heidi wasn’t looking out for Indiana’s best interest — she was looking for revenge and a way to hurt me, no matter the cost, and I was no longer going to let Indiana be a part of it.”

In response to her father’s post, Heidi and Hopie took to Instagram, writing to their father, “As sad as it is to say, we’re just happy to hear from you.”

Heidi added that Rory’s statements over Indiana’s care left her “heart broken,” and spoke in the defense of her late stepmother.

“My heart aches for Joey,” Heidi wrote. “You went on to say, ‘For the first time in her life she has a mother.’ How can you say that?”

Heidi and Hopie have created a GoFundMe page to help with legal fees as they pursue legal action against their father and to help Indiana.

“Hopie and Heidi are in a legal battle to ensure Indy receives the care and protection she desperately needs,” the page reads. “This process is complex, emotionally draining, and incredibly expensive. They wouldn’t be fighting this battle unless it was absolutely necessary to keep Indy safe.”

How Mia Farrow feels about actors working with ex Woody Allen https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/how-mia-farrow-feels-about-actors-working-with-ex-woody-allen/3708343/ 3708343 post 9853379 Lorena Sopena/Europa Press via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/web-240903-woody-allen-getty.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 Originally appeared on E! Mia Farrow has no hard feelings toward the actors who agree to work with Woody Allen.

The 79-year-old, who made 13 films with her 88-year-old ex before their rift, said she was able to separate that body of work from the personal traumas that came later.

“And I complete understand if an actor decides to work with him,” the “Rosemary’s Baby” star said on CBS Sunday Mornings’ Sept. 1 episode. “I’m not one to say, ‘Oh they shouldn’t.’”

Farrow and her daughter Dylan Farrow accused Allen of molesting Dylan when she was 7, a charge the director has repeatedly denied. The accusations came to light in the early ‘90s when Mia Farrow and Allen were involved in a custody battle over Dylan, and sons Moses and Ronan Farrow.

The “Annie Hall” filmmaker lost the custody battle in 1993. At the time, the judge said that the allegations of sexual abuse had not been proven but called Allen’s behavior toward Dylan Farrow “grossly inappropriate.”

Allen has released 33 films since the allegations and subsequently won four different Oscars for his work.

Prior to her relationship with Allen, Mia Farrow was married to Frank Sinatra from 1966 to 1968 and conductor Andre Previn from 1970 to 1979. She began her relationship with Allen in 1980, but their romance ended in 1992 when news of his romance with Farrow’s adopted daughter Soon-Yi, 53, became public.

Allen — who shares kids Bechet, 25, and Manzie, 24, with now-wife Soon-Yi — has denied Dylan and Mia Farrow’s claims for years, including his comments in 2021 in the wake of the documentary “Allen v. Farrow.”

“It’s so preposterous and yet the smear has remained,” he told CBS Sunday Morning at the time. “And they still prefer to cling to, if not the notion that I molested Dylan, the possibility that I molested her. Nothing that I ever did with Dylan in my life could be misconstrued as that.”

Nikki Garcia attends first public event after Artem Chigvintsev arrest https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/nikki-garcia-attends-first-public-event-after-artem-chigvintsev-arrest/3707719/ 3707719 post 9851296 Becker/Getty Images for Netflix © 2024 https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/09/GettyImages-2169944601.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Nikki Garcia is back in the public eye.

Just four days after her husband Artem Chigvintsev was arrested on a charge of domestic violence, the 40-year-old co-hosted Netflix’s live event “Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef” alongside Rob Riggle.

“Thank you everyone, I’m so happy to be here,” Garcia shared during the Sept. 2 event, dressed in a red pantsuit with matching vest top, smiling as she added to a fan in the crowd, “I love you, too.”

Garcia first announced she was hosting the Netflix special on Aug. 23, almost a week before her husband’s arrest, writing on Instagram at the time, “This is going to be EPIC!!”

However, just six days later, Chigvintsev — with whom Garcia tied the knot in 2022 and shares 4-year-old son Matteowas arrested on Aug. 29 in Napa, Calif., according to booking documents viewed by E! News. He was charged with California penal code section 273.5 (a)PC, which is related to acts of violence against a spouse or other cohabitant, and was later released on $25,000 bail.

E! News reached out to reps for Chigvintsev at the time but did not hear back.

The following day, a rep for the “Total Bellas” alum shared a comment with E! News on her behalf, noting, “This is a private matter and Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time.”

It was that same day that additional details surrounding the incident came to light.

According to a radio dispatch call obtained by TMZ Aug. 30, Chigvintsev called 911 for medical assistance and told dispatchers that Garcia had allegedly thrown shoes at him.

“Initially came in as requesting medical,” the dispatcher said in the audio recording, per TMZ, “but now he is stating he got into an argument with his wife and his wife threw shoes at R.P. [reporting party].”

Noting there was an “active 415”— which is code for a “suspected disturbing of the peace” — in the background of the call with Chigvintsev the dispatcher went on to confirm that medical assistance was on the way, adding, “There is a child on scene.”

According to the outlet, the “Dancing with the Stars” pro allegedly tried to call off the paramedics shortly after but police still arrived at the scene an hour later where Chigvintsev was shortly arrested.

“When someone is charged with felony domestic violence, usually this means there is a visible injury or credible eye witness,” Napa County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer said in a statement to E! News the day of the arrest. “Our deputies felt comfortable arresting him on felony domestic violence charges.”

While Garcia has remained tight-lipped on where she and Artem stand following his arrest, the former WWE wrestler did not wear her wedding ring while catching a private plane out of Oakland, Calif. Aug. 31.

Accusations made against Artem Chigvintsev from his time on “Strictly Come Dancing” have reemerged.

Shortly after the dancing pro — who married Nikki Garcia in 2022 — was arrested for domestic violence, past allegations made by his “Strictly Come Dancing” partner Fern Britton have resurfaced.

The British TV show host, who was paired with the ballroom dancer during the BBC show in 2012, later accused him of “manhandling her.”

“He would look at my feet and just kick me or shove me,” she said during a 2015 interview with Huffington Post UK, claiming that he told her, “’You just stand there and don’t move, I dance round you.’”

Britton also alleged that he once told her, “Shut your face. Go home before I kill you.'”

To which she added, “I would say, ‘Oh please just kill me, it would be easier.’ Or what was his other one? ‘If you go for a cup of tea now, I will blow off like an atomic bomb.’ I thought, well I won’t correct him on that one.”

The former “This Morning” host went on to note that the pair “did love each other for a moment or two, but he wasn’t charm personified.”

“I did kind of enjoy it,” she continued of her stint on the U.K. dancing competition show, “but it was grim at the same time.”

E! News has reached out to Britton, Chigvintsev’s reps, BBC and “Strictly Come Dancing” for comment on the allegations but has not heard back.

The “Dancing With the Stars” alum — who shares 4-year-old son Matteo with Garcia — was arrested on Aug. 29 in Yountville, Calif., for domestic violence after police received a 911 call, an officer from the Napa County Sheriff’s office previously confirmed to E! News.

According to police, the 42-year-old was taken to the Napa County Department of Correction and was later released on a bail of $25,000. Though authorities confirmed a few details following his arrest, they noted that some factors are being kept private due to laws protecting the privacy of victims of domestic violence.

“When someone is charged with felony domestic violence, usually this means there is a visible injury or credible eyewitness,” Napa County Sheriff’s public information officer Henry Wofford previously said in a statement to E! News. “Our deputies felt comfortable arresting him on felony domestic violence charges.”

Authorities are not releasing the name, gender and age of the victim, and are not disclosing the person’s relationship to Chigvintsev at this time.

Chigvintsev has not spoken out publicly about his arrest. E! News has reached out to reps for Garcia and Chigvintsev for comment on the case but has not heard back.

Netflix’s “Elite” family has lost one of their own.

Actor Julián Ortega died on Aug. 25 at age 41 following a collapse due to cardiorespiratory arrest at Playa de Zahora beach in Cádiz, Spain, according to The Olive Press, a local Spanish outlet.

Despite initial reports that the actor had drowned, Ortega was on shore when he collapsed and, per The Olive Press, paramedics spent up to half an hour attempting to resuscitate him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Our deepest condolences to his family and friends,” the Spanish Union of Actors and Actresses wrote in an Aug. 26 statement. “Rest in peace.”

E! News has reached out to a representative for Ortega, but has not heard back.

According to the Union’s statement, he was a graduate of Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático in Madrid and a student of the Young Company at the National Classical Theatre Company.

In addition to starring in the first season of the Netflix series, Ortega had recurring roles in the Spanish-language series “Untameable,” ‘The Countryside” and “4 Estrellas.”

Following the news of Ortega’s death, many of his fellow actors shared their condolences on social media (in posts translated from Spanish).

“Julian, I will always remember you,” actress Helena Lanza wrote on Instagram alongside a selfie with Ortega. “An empathetic, kind, generous, intelligent, talented being. How I enjoyed watching him on stage and how I loved sharing plans with him. How many talks together and how many laughs we’ve had.”

Actor Paco Collado, who played Ortega’s father in “The Countryside,” shared his support in a post to X (formerly Twitter), writing, in part, “You left us with sympathy, generosity and professionalism, many hugs friend and also to your family, a real shame in the prime of your youth, RIP Julian.”

Another actress and friend Sílvia Marsó shared a picture with the “Elite” actor, writing, “I can’t even imagine how these parents, colleagues, so beloved in the profession, are feeling. How horrible.”

Tana Ramsay has revealed that that her husband wasn’t in the room when she delivered their four eldest children.

“I said, ‘Look, if you don’t want to be in there, then don’t,” Tana, 50, recalled on the “Happy Mum Happy Baby” podcast.

At the time, she said, it was the right decision.

“He would’ve gotten all squeamish and probably fainted and all the attention would’ve been on him, and this is my moment,” Tana said.

“It didn’t ever really bother me and I actually felt quite happy when we talked about it,” she added, noting that her mother was there to support her through contractions.

Gordon and Tana share six kids: Megan, 26, twins Jack and Holly, 24, Tilly, 22, Oscar, 5, and Jesse, 9 months. The couple are also parents of stillborn son Rocky who died at 20 weeks gestation in 2016.

Gordon was there when Oscar and Jesse made their entrance into the world. Tana believes that losing Rocky influenced his decision.

“I think it was after what we went through with losing Rocky, our little boy,” Tana said.

Last year, Tana told People that Gordon has “gained more empathy” with age.

“I remember when I first met him — and I was actually dating one of his friends — I said, ‘Oh my God, he’s so arrogant,’ because it’s always his voice you heard,” Tana said. “He was always the one riling everyone up. In that respect, he has not changed at all. It’s just gotten more obvious. But at the same time, he is, believe it or not, incredibly sensitive — he’s a crier.”

As an example, Tana said Gordon will get weepy when the whole family is in the same place at the same time.

“We go long periods of time when we don’t have all the kids home, and then when we are all together having dinner, Gordon will say, ‘It’s really nice to have everyone here.’ And they’re like, ‘Oh God, watch out! He’s going to cry!’” Tana told the publication. “We laugh a bit because it’s a soft side that no one would expect him to have.”

‘Dancing with the Stars' dancer Artem Chigvintsev arrested on domestic violence charge https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/dancing-with-the-stars-dancer-artem-chigvintsev-arrested-on-domestic-violence-charge/3705827/ 3705827 post 9844278 Gilbert Flores/Variety via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/GettyImages-1732535510-e1724972182508.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 A dancer who performed with celebrity guests on “Dancing with the Stars” was arrested in northern California on Thursday on a charge of domestic violence, a Napa County sheriff’s spokesman said.

Artem Chigvintsev, who appeared in 12 seasons of the show, was arrested by the Napa County sheriff’s deputies in Yountville after a 911 call around 10 a.m. reporting domestic violence, spokesman Officer Henry Wofford said.

Chigvintsev was booked on a charge of felony domestic violence, and bond was set at $25,000, Wofford said.

Chigvintsev was released Thursday afternoon, online jail records show.

Being booked does not mean he has been formally charged. The Napa County District Attorney’s Office will file any charges in the case, Wofford said.

A spokesman for the district attorney’s office said Thursday the office does not yet have the case, but will review it once it is received.

It was not immediately clear if Chigvintsev had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

Details about the victim, any relationship, and where the arrest took place were not being released because of concerns about the victims’ privacy, Wofford said.

Julianne Hough addresses sexuality after saying she's ‘not straight' https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/julianne-hough-addresses-sexuality-after-saying-shes-not-straight/3705803/ 3705803 post 9844128 Photo by Bruce Glikas/FilmMagic https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/GettyImages-2157901290.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,226 Originally appeared on E! Julianne Hough is reflecting on her coming out journey.

The “Dancing With the Starshost shared insight into how she views gave fans an update on her sexuality almost five years after saying she was she noted in an interview that was “not straight.”

“Coming out is one of the most vulnerable and empowering things that you can do,” Hough said on the Aug. 27 episode of the “Jamie Kern Lima Show” podcast. “I think for me, it was very much like, it’s not about being straight or gay or bi or queer. It’s more about, I think I’m just learning like what love is and I love people and I don’t know what I’m attracted to, but I choose you.”

The 36-year-old continued, “I was starting to see people and seeing their hearts and seeing their beauty and their essence coming through in a way that I was like, wow, I love people and I don’t know if it’s a sexual attraction or a ‘this’ attraction, but I’m just seeing people. And that was such a beautiful revelation too.”

The “Grease Live!” actress first opened up about her sexuality when in a 2019 interview with Women’s Health she recalled telling then-husband Brooks Laich, “You know I’m not straight, right?”

“And he was like, ‘I’m sorry, what?’” she continued, “I was like, ‘I’m not. But I choose to be with you.'”

Hough and Laich went on to divorce in 2022 after almost five years of marriage.

As for how she looks back on that time, the former “DWTS” dance pro, who returned to the series as a cohost in 2023, told Jamie Kern Lima her past relationship with the hockey player was “the greatest thing that could have happened to me at that time.”

“What I needed at that time was to reconnect to my 10-year-old self,” she explained. “And what did I need at 10? I really needed safety, and almost, like, a father figure to come in and be that grounding force of stability. And so I think a lot of our dynamic was this little girl feeling and this stability and stable man to be there. He provided such a beautiful foundation for me to be a little girl.”

But despite going their separate ways romantically, Hough notes a silver lining to their marriage. “We are very important, special people in each other’s live and we shared a really powerful season together,” she said. “I know that I also brought a lot of things to his life that he shared with me also and so it has definitely felt like a mutual respect and love and period of growth for both of us.”

What Mariah Carey has said about her parents, Alfred and Patricia https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/national-international/what-mariah-carey-has-said-about-her-parents-alfred-and-patricia/3704956/ 3704956 post 9841544 Christopher Polk/Billboard via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/GettyImages-1978656672_6e6c28.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,214 Mariah Carey has spoken openly about her complicated relationship with her parents over the years.

In 2002, the singer lost her father, Alfred Roy Carey. On Aug. 26, she announced the death of her mother, Patricia Carey, over the weekend.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” Carey said in the statement shared with TODAY.com. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

In her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” the 55-year-old shared many details about the complex dynamic she had with both of her parents.

The couple, who divorced when Mariah Carey was just 3 years old, shared three children together: their daughters Mariah and Alison and a son named Morgan.

Curious to learn more about the singer’s late parents? Below, we outline everything she has shared about them.

Patricia Carey

In August 2024, Mariah Carey announced that her mother Patricia Carey and her sister Alison Carey had both died on the same day “in a tragic turn of events.” The singer did not share additional details about their deaths.

Mariah had a troubled relationship with her mother

In her memoir, Mariah Carey called her “complicated journey” with Patricia Carey a story of “betrayal and beauty,” “love and abandonment” and “sacrifice and survival.”

“Our relationship is a prickly rope of pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration and disappointment. A complicated love tethers my heart to my mother’s,” she wrote.

While reflecting on their difficult dynamic, Mariah Carey shared the following thoughts: “I’ve emancipated myself from bondage several times, but there is a cloud of sadness that I suspect will always hang over me, not simply because of my mother but because of our complicated journey together. It has caused me so much pain and confusion.”

Patricia was disowned from her mother for marrying a black man

As a white woman, Patricia Carey’s marriage to a black man caused tension in her family, as Mariah Carey described in her memoir, and her own mother disowned her.

“This, to my grandmother (and her community) was the worst thing her daughter could do to her and to the family lineage. Talking to a Black man was considered a shame; befriending one, an outrage; carrying on with one, a major scandal, but marrying one? That was an abomination,” she wrote.

Patricia was an opera singer

Patricia Carey was an opera singer who sang with the New York City Opera. In her memoir, Mariah Carey questioned why her mother gave up singing after she got married and had three children.

“I could understand her wanting to create a safety net, a new family of her own, and to continue blazing trails, leaving her backward home and family behind. But what I couldn’t understand was her abandoning her promising singing career to do so. From very early on I decided that I didn’t want the same fate; I couldn’t have a man or an unplanned pregnancy take me off my path,” she wrote.

After having children, Patricia Carey found work as a voice and music coach.

“Music was something we genuinely connected on, and without pushing or becoming one of those overbearing stage mothers or ‘momagers,’ she instilled in me the power of believing in myself,” Mariah Carey wrote in her book. “Whenever I mused about what I’d do ‘if I make it,’ she would cut me short and say, ‘Don’t say “if I make it,” say “when I make it.” Believe you can do it, and you will do it.’”

In 2010, Patricia and Mariah Carey sang a duet of “O Come All Ye Faithful/Hallelujah Chorus” during Mariah Carey’s Christmas TV special.

Alfred Roy Carey

Mariah Carey’s father, Alfred Roy Carey, was born in 1929. In her memoir, the singer explained that he enlisted in the military and later worked as an aeronautical engineer.

When Mariah Carey was 3 years old, her parents divorced and she spent most of her time with her mother.

“For most of my early childhood it was just my mother and me. We moved constantly,” she wrote in her memoir.

Mariah Carey didn’t have a close relationship with her father while growing up

After her parents’ divorce, Mariah Carey at first had weekly visits with her father, but those were soon few and far between.

“My father and I had a good relationship for a minute there, right after the divorce,” she told People in 1993. “Everybody wishes they had the Brady Bunch family, but it’s not reality.”

Over the years, Mariah Carey has spoken out about her experience growing up as mixed race.

“The truth is I will never say I had the same experience as a darker-skinned woman,” she told Vulture in 2020. The singer said she grew up in white neighborhoods and felt “ashamed that there (was) nobody visibly Black there.”

Alfred Carey had a contentious relationship with his son

In her memoir, Mariah Carey opened up about her father and brother’s challenging relationship and revealed that it sometimes turned violent.

While describing a time they fought when where the cops had to break things up, she wrote, “This, of course, was not the first vicious fight between my father and brother — for as long as I could remember, their relationship had been a war zone. But it was the first time the troops had been called in. It was also the first time I witnessed the possibility that a member of my family could brutally die in front of my eyes. Or that I could die too. I wasn’t yet four years old.”

Mariah Carey released a song for her father after he died in 2002

Alfred Roy Carey died in 2002 from cancer. Following his death, Mariah Carey released a song called “Sunflowers for Alfred Roy.”

“Please be at peace father/ I’m at peace with you/ Bitterness isn’t worth cling to/ After all the anguish we’ve all been through,” she sang.

The song continued, “Father, thanks for reaching out and lovingly/ Saying that you’ve always been proud of me/ I needed to feel that so desperately/You’re always alive inside of me/ Now you’re shining like/ A sunflower up in the sky/ Way up high.”

Mariah Carey has paid tribute to her father on several occasions since his death

In recent years, Mariah Carey has posted several tributes to her late father on social media.

To celebrate Father’s Day in 2020, she shared a photo of him along with the following message: “Happy Father’s Day to My Father. Rest in Power 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻Love and Sunflowers for Alfred Roy ❤️.”

In 2022, the singer marked her father’s birthday by sharing several photos of a car she restored in his memory.

“Happy Birthday to you my Father Alfred Roy Carey. The car you never got to finish is lovingly restored, complete with your spirit and my children. Sorry I never told you, all I wanted to say🌻👐🏾❤️,” she captioned the post.

During an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” in 2023, the singer said she keeps her father’s memory alive in a sweet way during the holiday season: by making his signature clam linguini.

“It’s really special to me because it’s my father’s recipe for my favorite dish that he used to make when I was little,” she said. “I was growing up and it took me so long, but as he was passing away and we were going through that, he wrote down the recipe for me, so it really gets to your heart (when) you just think about it, and it’s like, what an incredible journey this has been.”

Channing Tatum accuses Jenna Dewan of ‘delay tactic' in divorce battle https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/channing-tatum-accuses-jenna-dewan-of-delay-tactic-in-divorce-battle/3704848/ 3704848 post 9841090 Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/image_056e28.png?fit=300,169&quality=85&strip=all Originally appeared on E! Online

Channing Tatum wants to move forward.

The “Blink Twice” actor is firing back at ex Jenna Dewan‘s latest request in their ongoing divorce battle, accusing her motion of being a “delay tactic” and asked that it be denied, according to a filing obtained by E! News Aug. 28.

In the document, Tatum called out Dewan for filing a motion to disqualify his lawyers from working on their case three months before the pair are supposed to go to trial, claiming the move is a “transparent attempt to divert the Court’s attention” from her desire to “delay these proceedings.”

And the “Magic Mike” alum — who shares 11-year-old daughter Everly with Dewan — provided reasons why he believes her petition is simply an effort to stall, arguing that her request is “devoid of any legal or factual support.”

Noting that the Rookie actress — who filed for divorce from Tatum in 2018 — has “never been a client” at either of his teams’ law firms, the filing explained that his lawyers, therefore, do not possess any “confidential information” about her that would give them an unfair advantage in court.

“In short, Petitioner’s RFO is nothing more than a frivolous filing that has no basis in law or fact,” the document read, “and is solely designed to delay the upcoming trial in this action.”

And Tatum’s request didn’t end there. The 44-year-old — who is engaged to Zoë Kravitz — also asked that Dewan be required to reimburse him $20,000 for the legal fees that her delay has incurred, writing that the cost will hopefully “deter such obstreperous conduct in the future.”

E! News reached out to Dewan’s rep for comment but has not heard back.

This isn’t the first time Tatum has accused Dewan — who also shares son Callum, 4, and daughter Rhiannon, 2 months, with fiancé Steve Kazee — of slowing down their six-year legal battle.

Back in May, the actor made the same allegation after Dewan alleged in separate documents that he put earnings from his “Magic Mike” trilogy into “an irrevocable trust” and transferred licensing rights to a third party without telling her—despite them acquiring the franchise’s intellectual property rights together.

In response, Channing denied her claims, writing in a follow-up paperwork obtained by E!, “It is designed to delay the processing of the case and increase the expense of litigation and will not, in any way, promote ‘early resolution by settlement,’ in a case where five separate mediation sessions have resulted in Petitioner’s simply ignoring a tendered proposed judgment for months.”

Travis Kelce's new racehorse seemingly nods to Taylor Swift romance https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/travis-kelce-taylor-swift-racehorse-swift-delivery/3704515/ 3704515 post 9839980 LEANDRO LOZADA/AFP via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/web-240828-travis-kelce-getty.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 The Broadway theater community is remembering legendary actor James Earl Jones, who died Monday at the age of 93.

Pink's sweet pep talk with daughter Willow proves she's a ‘Rockstar' https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/pinks-sweet-pep-talk-with-daughter-willow-proves-shes-a-rockstar/3704679/ 3704679 post 9840478 Eva Marie Uzcategui/Bloomberg via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/GettyImages-2167158806-1.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Pink is proud to see her daughter try, try, try.

The “Raise Your Glass” singer shared a look at her and her 13-year-old daughter Willow Sage Hart’s performance at the Democratic National Convention Aug. 22, and the sweet speech she gave the teen just before they took the stage together.

“Just do you thing,” she told her daughter. “Whatever you don’t sing, I will. It’s going to be brilliant. OK? I’ll be ready.”

Pink — who shares Willow and her 7-year-old son Jameson Moon with husband Carey Hart — took the stage with her daughter to sing a stripped-down rendition of “What About Us” at the Chicago-based convention, which also included a performance by The Chicks to sing the “Star Spangled Banner.” For the mother-daughter moment, Pink and Willow donned matching all-black outfits, proving further they are seamlessly in sync.

And while Pink took the time to hype up her teenager ahead of taking the stage — Willow is no stranger to performing with her. After all, she previously joined the three-time Grammy winner for a portion of her 2024 Summer Carnival tour, which Pink previously told E! News was, “impossible, beautiful, and memory-making.”

But just because Willow has occasionally joined in to perform her mom’s pop anthem doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll be following in her footsteps.

“She’s going to be a trauma surgeon,” Pink, 44, explained to E! News in May. “She’s into Broadway musical theater more so than all this pop business. She said she would like to get Broadway out of the way so she can be a trauma surgeon.”

Indeed, Willow recently exited stage left when it came to accompanying her mom on tour.

“This weekend’s shows were Willow’s last few on tour before she takes time away to follow her dreams,” Pink wrote in an emotional June Instagram post. “I promised I wouldn’t cry. I DID NOT however, promise I wouldn’t hyperventilate through our hug. It’s wild to watch your children grow up and out of you, but I’m beyond proud. We all are. I’m gonna miss you so much.”

Armie Hammer is selling his truck since he ‘can't afford the gas' https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/armie-hammer-is-selling-his-truck-since-he-cant-afford-the-gas/3704788/ 3704788 post 9840925 Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images for HFA https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/GettyImages-1057413442.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Online

Armie Hammer is saying goodbye to a part of his past and hello to the future.

A year after the “Call Me By Your Name” star settled his divorce with Elizabeth Chambers, he shared that he’s traded in his black pickup truck for a more energy (and cost) efficient vehicle.

“I’ve been back in L.A. for a couple of weeks now,” Hammer said in an Aug. 27 Instagram video sharing insight into his decision to part ways with the truck. “Since being back in L.A., I have put about four or five hundred dollars worth of gas in it. I can’t afford it. I can’t afford the gas anymore.”

The 38-year-old—who shares Harper, 9, and Ford, 7, with his ex-wife — bought the black GMC Sierra 1500 Denali pickup truck for himself as a Christmas gift in 2017. “I’ve had pickup trucks for a long time,” he recalled. “I have loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and cross country multiple times and on long road trips.”

Although he’s heartbroken selling his beloved car, Hammer is looking at the silver lining.

“It’s OK,” he noted. “I got a new car. It’s tiny. It’s a hybrid. I’m probably going to put about 10 bucks of gas in it a month.”

He also admitted that when feeling unsure about the decision, “I just keep telling myself that parking will be easier and gas is going to be cheaper.”

The “Social Network” actor sees it as one part of his fresh chapter, which also includes a new apartment and “new life” in Los Angeles. He added, “Here’s to new beginnings.”

Hammer’s latest update comes one month after he reflected on his time outside of the public eye for over three years following numerous allegations of sexual misconduct, including rape. (After a lengthy investigation, the Los Angeles Police Department declined to press charges.)

“It was pretty great,” Hammer said on being canceled during the Club Random with Bill Mahr podcast in July. “It’s incredibly liberating, because so much of my life leading up to there was being preoccupied with how I was perceived, which now you don’t have to care about.”

“Once everyone just decides that they hate you,” he continued, “you go, ‘Oh, well, then I don’t need anything from you people anyway. I guess I should just learn to be content with myself.’ And then you go do that, and it feels f–king amazing.”

Among the allegations brought against Hammer in 2021, were that he partook in cannibalistic fantasies, coerced his partner into BDSM scenarios and that he carved his initial into a woman’s body—all of which he denied.

But nonetheless, the “Death on the Nile” star believes all of the events in his life were a blessing in disguise.

“I experienced an ego death, a career death, a financial death, all of these things, right?” he explained. “You got to die. And once you die, you can then be reborn.”

Travis Kelce reacts to Adam Sandler's comments on Taylor Swift romance https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/travis-kelce-taylor-swift-adam-sandler/3704598/ 3704598 post 9840325 Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/web-240828-adam-sandler-travis-kelce-getty.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 Originally appeared on E! Online

In a world of boys, Adam Sandler’s family knows that Travis Kelce is a gentleman.

Indeed, Sandler — who along with his daughters Sadie, 18, Sunny, 15, and wife Jackie Sandler is a self-proclaimed Taylor Swift fanatic—recently detailed his and his daughter’s reaction to the Kansas City Chiefs player and “Karma” singer debuting their romance last September.

“You being together,” Sandler gushed on the Aug. 28 episode of New Heights. “That photo of when you first started dating, my family was like, ‘Yes! Look how good they are together! He’s a gentleman! And she’s having so much fun with him!’ Any time Taylor is laughing with you, my whole f–kin’ family is high fiving.”

And Kelce’s cheeks were pink in the twinkling lights, as he responded, “You’ve got me sweating, man.”

Of course, Kelce and Sandler had no problem hyping up the “Fortnight” singer.

“What a girl,” Sandler effused. “She means so much to our house. The kids were little and we were listening to Taylor Swift — it was one of the first times that you listen to every song on the record. When I was a kid, The Beatles you did that with, maybe Elton John. Every tune. They knew every word.”

And Kelce agreed, “Best performer out there.”

But while Sandler’s daughters put him onto her music back in the day, he’s become a Swiftie in his own right.

“I love listening to her in the car,” he continued. “I love what she has to say. Every message. Every melody. The production. What she meant to young girls, what she means to women, what she means to guys doing the right thing in life.”

Beyond Swift’s music, Sandler also lauded her for always taking the time to greet his daughters — and even recalled her complimenting them on their 2023 Netflix comedy “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.”

Saturday Night Live, she saw the kids there — took her time with them,” he added. “And then at her premiere for the movie, she talked to the kids about their movie. She talked about what she liked in it, and she just floors my family.”

Of course, because of how much she means to his daughters, Sandler also emphasized how Swift is the one celebrity he still gets a “little f–king jumpy” around.

Meanwhile, Kelce may be able to shake off the butterflies now, but that wasn’t always the case. After all, he previously detailed how nervous he was in the early stages of their relationship.

“Everybody around me telling me: ‘Don’t f–k this up,’ and me sitting here saying: ‘Yeah—got it,’” the 34-year-old explained to WSJ. Magazine in November 2023. “That was the biggest thing to me: make sure I don’t say anything that would push Taylor away.”

If Kelce was an amateur, rest assured Swift would have already cut him from her team.

Adam Sandler just can’t say no to being the shorts boy.

The “Wedding Singer” actor recently explained the motivation behind his unconventional fashion choices, joking that he rarely thinks through what he’s putting on: “It just happens.”

“There’s sneakers,” Sandler told Mystery Fashionist in an Aug. 25 TikTok video, describing his outfit for the day. “There’s some goofy shorts.”

“I wear this to cover this,” he said of his sweater while pointing to his stomach, and added he’s got his T-shirt on “to cover more.”

And the 57-year-old has never felt as though he has to follow the rules of fashion. Instead, he’s all about ease.

“Whatever is in the closet, I grab it,” he explained. “I think I got a bunch of the same socks. Underwear’s kinda similar, too. I grab it, I don’t think about it much.”

As for the haters? He quipped, “Most people make fun of me in my family, but I keep moving.”

And when it comes to the fashion pieces he can’t live without, Sandler is partial to “nice socks” that his wife Jackie Sandler gets him, often with pictures of their daughters Sadie, 17, and Sunny, 15, on them.

He also needs “sneakers that fit,” noting, “It don’t matter if they’re dirty or not, as long as they’re fitting and not hurting. “

As for the shirt he was wearing that day, he noted that he “threw this s–t on because I think I got this, like, five years ago and I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I forgot about that thing.'”

Over the years, the “Big Daddy” actor has made it his mission to prioritize comfort in his fashion, often showing up to red carpets in sweats or shorts paired with a tee shirt and sneakers. He even wore a similar outfit while collecting the Comedy Movie Star Award at the People’s Choice Awards in 2022.

Sandler recently discussed his “Sandlercore” style, noting that he’s amazed he’s become such a fashion icon, especially for Gen Z.

“You know, this is an accidental thing,” he told People in an interview published Aug. 20, “but here I am wearing goofy clothes, and I don’t know. I don’t think about it.”

However, Sandler has also been known to dress it up for special occasions, like when he and his family enjoyed a night out at the February premiere of his movie Spaceman.

Clinton Kelly, Stacy London are reuniting for new show ‘Wear Whatever The F You Want' https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/clinton-kelly-stacy-london-reuniting-new-show-wear-whatever-the-f-you-want/3703806/ 3703806 post 9837425 Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/image-9-8.png?fit=300,169&quality=85&strip=all More than a decade after TLC’s “What Not to Wear” ended, Stacy London and Clinton Kelly are teaming up to host a new eight-episode streaming series called “Wear Whatever the F You Want.”

As the name suggests, the focus of the new show, which will stream on Prime Video, is to help people dress authentically for themselves rather versus conforming to someone else’s definition of style, according to an Amazon MGM Studios press release shared on Aug. 26.

“The world has changed a lot since the run of ‘What Not to Wear,’ and, thankfully, so have we,” Kelly and London said in the release. “These days, we have zero interest in telling people what to do, based on society’s norms — because there are no more norms!

“However, style is still an important form of communication, and we’re excited to show new clients how to align their personal messaging with their life goals,” the pair continued in their statement. “It’s time to celebrate individual style, not prescribe it.”

Kelly, 55, also shared the news on Instagram and revealed the show had been in the works for a long time.

“It’s happening!!! I’ve wanted to tell you guys about this for YEARS now. @stacylondonreal and I have joined forces again for a new show that is kinda like WNTW except NOT,” he captioned his post shared on Aug. 26. “It’s called Wear Whatever The F You Want and we’re gonna help people do exactly that! Can’t wait for you to see it! Love ya, mean it. CK.”

London also marked the news of the upcoming show with an Instagram post on the same day, joking that “Mr Kelly and I can’t seem to stay away from each other.”

In “What Not to Wear,” which aired from 2003 until 2013, London and Kelly surprised women (and the occasional man) with makeovers, whisking them off to New York for a shopping spree and a healthy dose of fashion advice.

It’s unclear whether their new show will include a similar surprise element, or whether people can apply for a style transformation.

Either way, fans in the comments celebrated this new show’s focus on celebrating individuality.

“This is amazing!!! It’s time to abolish all the ‘rules’ and empower people to embrace their creativity and wear whatever the hell that brings them joy. Way to go!” one person commented on Kelly’s recent Instagram post.

Another commenter called this new series “a brilliant shift from the original,” and as another person put it, “There is something so healing about all of this.”

Carmindy, the makeup artist who appeared alongside Kelly and London throughout their time on “What Not to Wear,” also celebrated the news in the comments of Kelly’s post, writing, “This is soooo exciting.”

Kelly later jumped into the comments to thank fans for their support.

“OMG These comments!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH. I’m really quite touched by your excitement. I hope you LOVE the show!!!” he wrote.

This new show marks the first time Kelly and London will appear together on TV as co-hosts in more than 10 years. However, the duo did reunite last year for a live touring stage show, “The Stacy & Clinton Show.”

They also shared in September 2023 that they were close friends again after resolving a long-running feud.

“After seeing the same clickbait story over and over and over on Instagram about how much we hated each other, I was like, ‘I can’t take this anymore.’ Because we don’t really hate each other. We love each other, as a matter of fact,” Kelly said during a visit to TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.

“We have very strong feelings toward each other,” he continued. “So I reached out to Stacy and I was like, ‘Can we put this behind us? Let’s talk it out.’ And we had a really emotional conversation. It was during the pandemic, sort of as the pandemic was ending. And we just talked through it all.”

A released date for Prime Video’s “Wear Whatever the F You Want” has not yet been announced. Kelly and London are both serving as executive producers on the show.

Mariah Carey's mother and sister died on the same day. The singer says her ‘heart is broken' https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/mariah-carey-mother-sister-died-same-day/3702953/ 3702953 post 9834612 Stefanie Keenan/Getty Images for Byron Allen AMG/TheGRIO Awards (File) https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/MARIAH.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 Mariah Carey’s mother Patricia and sister Alison both died on the same day, the singer said Monday.

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” the Grammy-winning singer said in a statement.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” the statement continued. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

The Times Union reported Monday that Alison, who was largely estranged from Carey, died at 63 from complications with her organ function and that she had been in hospice care.

People Magazine first reported the news of their deaths and Carey’s statement.

Patricia was a Juilliard-trained opera singer who Carey credits as an inspiration to her from a young age.

“I would sing little tunes around the house, to my mother’s delight. And she always encouraged me,” she wrote in her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.”

Patricia was previously married to Alfred Roy Carey, the singer’s father. The parents divorced when the “Vision of Love” singer was 3. Carey grew up in Suffolk County on Long Island and lived primarily with her mother after her parents’ divorce. Her father died of cancer in 2002 at age 72.

Carey detailed her complicated relationship with her mother and her sister in her memoir, in which she wrote that she and her mother often clashed, causing her to feel “so much pain and confusion,” and accused her sister of putting her in unsafe situations as a child.

“Like many aspects of my life, my journey with my mother has been full of contradictions and competing realities. It’s never been only black-and-white — it’s been a whole rainbow of emotions,” Carey wrote in the book. “Our relationship is a prickly rope of pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration and disappointment. A complicated love tethers my heart to my mother’s.”

Carey maintained contact with her mother and even recorded a duet of “O Come All Ye Faithful/Hallelujah Chorus” for the singer’s second Christmas album in 2010.

Ben Affleck spends time with Matt Damon amid Jennifer Lopez split https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/ben-affleck-spends-time-with-matt-damon-amid-jennifer-lopez-split/3702922/ 3702922 post 9834435 Photo by Franco Origlia/Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/GettyImages-1339530419.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Ben Affleck is getting by with a little help from his friends.

Less than a week after Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from the “Air” actor after two years of marriage, Affleck was seen spending time with BFF Matt Damon.

The duo grabbed dinner with Damon’s wife Luciana Barroso and two of their daughters at Los Angeles hot spot Toscana on Aug. 25, with everybody opting to keep it casual for the outing.

Affleck, 52, was dressed for comfort in jeans, a tan button-down shirt over a white tee shirt and sneakers, while Damon, 53, went for a darker look in a black polo shirt and dark jeans. Barroso matched her husband in a black shirt and skirt set, paired with a crossbody bag.

Affleck and Lopez have yet to publicly address their split after the Grammy nominee filed for divorce on Aug. 20 — the two-year anniversary of their lavish Georgia wedding — citing irreconcilable differences and listing the couple’s date of separation as April 26.

As the two did not have a prenuptial agreement in place, the “On the Floor” singer — who shares twins Max and Emme, both 16, with ex Marc Anthony — waived her right for any spousal support and asked the Los Angeles judge to refuse Affleck the right as well, according to legal documents viewed by E! News.

The 55-year-old also requested her name — which is currently legally Jennifer Lynn Affleck — be restored to Jennifer Lynn Lopez.

And while the two have maintained a low profile since the news broke, Lopez did recently make her return to social media, resharing a fan’s throwback photo to her Instagram Stories Aug. 23, in which she could be seen wearing a fuzzy pink robe and snapping a selfie in front of a Christmas tree.

As for the actor, on the day that J.Lo was filing for the divorce, the “Argo” star was flying back to Los Angeles from New Haven, Conn., where he and ex-wife Jennifer Garner moved their eldest daughter Violet, 18, into Yale University for her freshman year. The couple are also parents to Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.

In February, Affleck hinted that he and Lopez were on different pages about their marriage, discussing how they fundamentally disagreed when it came to showing off their romance in the public eye, especially after rekindling their early aughts romance.

“Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media,'” he explained in Jen’s “The Greatest Love Story Never Told” documentary. “And then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like you’re gonna marry a boat captain and you go, ‘Well, I don’t like the water.’ We’re just two people with kind of different approaches trying to learn to compromise.”

Noel and Liam Gallagher tease Oasis reunion with cryptic social media posts https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/noel-liam-gallagher-tease-oasis-reunion/3702653/ 3702653 post 9833600 Paul Bergen/Redferns https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/GettyImages-86133972.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 Are the Gallagher brothers done looking back in anger?

Noel and Liam Gallagher, the Oasis rockers whose bitter feud brought an end to the seminal Britpop band 15 years ago, teased a possible reunion with enigmatic posts on social media Sunday.

The brothers each posted short videos showing a date — “27.08.24” — rendered in the same font and style as the band’s era-defining logo. The video flickers before flashing to a time: “8am.” The short clip was also posted on the band’s official X account.

The posts came as The Sunday Times, citing unspecified “industry insiders,” reported that Noel (lead guitarist, main songwriter) and Liam (lead vocalist) planned to perform next summer at Heaton Park in Manchester, where the band was formed in 1991, and at Wembley Stadium in London.

NBC News has not independently confirmed that report. The brothers’ representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Oasis fans around the world have dreamed of the brothers getting back together since they split up acrimoniously in 2009 following a reported backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. In the years since, 57-year-old Noel and 51-year-old Liam have traded barbs in the press and via social media, sometimes in vulgar terms.

“The angriest man you’ll ever meet,” Noel has said of Liam, calling his younger brother “a man with a fork in a world of soup.” Liam has referred to Noel as a “potato.” The social media platform X contains examples of other choice insults not fit for publication on a family news website.

The brothers clashed repeatedly even at the height of their international fame and creative influence, a period that included the chart-topping albums “Definitely Maybe” and “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” — featuring hit singles such as “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Champagne Supernova.”

If the sparring siblings actually reunite, their 2025 tour would come in time for the 30th anniversary of “Morning Glory,” the bestselling album of the 1990s in the U.K. and the group’s commercial breakthrough in the U.S. The hypothetical reunion would also likely be a chilling reminder of aging and mortality for people in their 40s and 50s.

Liam Gallagher fanned the speculation on X, replying directly to users who tweeted news articles about the possible reunion. “I never did like that word FORMER,” he said in one post.

He also didn’t let insults go unanswered. “Your attitude stinks,” he repeatedly said to X users who joked the band must be going broke. “SHUTUP,” he wrote in response to posts calling the band overrated.

Liam’s message seemed clear: Oasis will be back in the news whether the haters like it or not. “See you down the front ya big fanny kiss kiss x,” he posted Saturday.

Kelly Ripa reacts to daughter Lola Consuelos posting topless photo https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/kelly-ripa-reacts-to-daughter-lola-consuelos-posting-topless-photo/3703127/ 3703127 post 9835367 Taylor Hill/WireImage via Getty Images https://media.nbcwashington.com/2024/08/GettyImages-1192770533-e1724730110230.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=200,300 The Broadway theater community is remembering legendary actor James Earl Jones, who died Monday at the age of 93.
