Montgomery County has launched a new program to help families in need pay for their groceries and get them delivered straight to their homes.

Montgomery County launched a new program to help families in need pay for their groceries and get them delivered to their homes. News4’s Mauricio Casillas reports how the county partnered with food delivery service Instacart to give families monthly vouchers.

This summer, donations have flowed in from NBC4 and Telemundo44 viewers towards the Food4Families campaign, amounting to over $6,000. News4’s Molette Green shares a few heartfelt messages from donors about the campaign. 

The C.H.O.W. Wagon weekend meal program focuses on providing food to families during the summer in Prince William County. Southwest Business Improvement District’s meal program prepares nearly 200 lunches and delivers them to those in need every weekday in Southwest D.C. News4’s Molette Green reports. 

FRESHFARM FoodPrints is an educational program that gives D.C. public school students the chance to grow fresh produce and learn how certain foods affect their bodies. The program’s mission is to tackle hunger and address the lack of fresh food in certain communities. News4’s Molette Green reports. 

News4 and Telemundo 44 donated $15,000 to the Community Marketplace at Glenarden to help alleviate hunger and food insecurity.

One in five seniors are food insecure in the region. Capital Area Food Bank provides healthy food for seniors every month through their Commodity Supplemental Food Program. News4’s Molette Green reports. 

The public is voting for its favorite pork chop in the D.C. area, and the winning restaurant will receive $100,000 to keep pushing pork. News4’s Tommy McFly reports $100,000 worth of pork products will be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank.

Access to fresh and organic produce has become harder for low-income families. News4’s Megan McGrath shares which local farm is making it more accessible.

Clagett Farm has donated 800,000 pounds of organic produce to charitable organizations. They told News4’s Megan McGrath, “We send out to local food pantries to help provide local organic food to the local community.”
